BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Montana Western Cross Country teams got the 2024 season underway this evening with the highly competitive MSU Bobcat Twilight Meet.
Five Bulldog women competed in the women's 5k race. Sophomore
Olivia Steadman had a great race with a 27th place finish. She recorded a time of 19:28.1. Freshman
Ruby Smith followed in 52nd with a time of 21:15.0. Sophomore
Justene Santi found herself just a few placed behind Smith, finishing in 56th with a time of 21:33.6. Freshmen
Destiny Vogl (58th, 21:51.7) and
Olivia Canney (64th, 22:39.9) rounded out the scoring five.
In the men's 5k race, junior
Harrison Silverio was the top finisher for the Bulldogs with a 56th place finish with a time of 16:58.4. Sophomore
Brody Henry followed in 59th with his own race time of 17:15.3. Freshman
Kreg Butler finished in 62nd with a time of 17:32.7. Junior
Carlin Onstad (66th, 17:40.7) and freshman
Noah Rovente (70th, 18:14.2) rounded out the top five for the Bulldogs.
Sophomore
Kaden Hennessey and freshman
Bridger Wheeler also competed in the race. Hennessey finished in 72nd with a time of 18:37.9. Wheeler followed in 74th with his time of 19:35.0.
The Bulldogs will take a week to prepare and will face off with Frontier competition on Sept. 9 at the Tony Banovich Invitational in Butte, Mont.
