Bulldog Men Defeated at No. 19 Rocky Mountain College

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana Western men's basketball team (10-8) dropped their game with No. 19 Rocky Mountain College (15-3), losing 68-79 this evening.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Jayln Stepney and Alan Kane who both had 16 points.

How it Happened

After an early 6-0 run by Rocky to take the lead, the Bulldogs answered with a 10-0 run to reclaim a 13-9 advantage, holding the Bears scoreless for nearly three minutes.

Rocky responded with back-to-back three-pointers to regain the lead, which grew to as much as 12 points (34-22) with four minutes remaining in the quarter.

Abi Adedo scored three consecutive points to trim the deficit to eight. After a Rocky basket pushed the lead back to 10, Stepney closed out the half with four straight points, cutting the Bulldogs' deficit to six at halftime.

Over the first eight minutes of the second half, Rocky Mountain College went on a 21-9 run to extend their lead to 20 with 13 minutes remaining.

The Bulldogs fought back, and after a Jacksen Burckley three-pointer, the Bears' lead was trimmed to 10 (55-65) with 5:15 left to play.

Rocky pushed the lead back to 14, but five straight points from Kane cut the UMW deficit to nine with 4:00 remaining. That was as close as the Bulldogs would get, as the Bears closed out the game.

The Bulldogs will continue on the road as they head to Helena, to take on Carroll College for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
