DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball team (5-9) dropped a hard-fought game to No. 21 Carroll College (10-5), falling 56-54 this evening.
Keke Davis led the effort for the Bulldogs, recording a double-double with a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds.
How It Happened
Payton Hagy got the Bulldogs on the board with a banked three-point basket, helping the team open with a 7-4 lead. However, Carroll responded with a 10-5 run to close out the first quarter, taking the lead.
In the second quarter, Davis spearheaded the Bulldogs' charge, scoring nine points to narrow Carroll's lead to 28-27 at halftime.
Maddy Moy opened the second half with a basket to reclaim the lead for Montana Western. The third quarter saw multiple ties and lead changes as both teams battled for control.
The game remained tightly contested in the fourth quarter.
Ava Bellach contributed five points and blocked two shots, keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance.
A Carroll free throw with 9.5 seconds remaining gave the Saints a 56-54 advantage. Following a timeout, Moy's layup attempt rimmed out at the buzzer, securing the victory for Carroll College.
Notables
- Hagy finished with 11 points and was 3-4 from three-point range.
- Isabella Lund, Bellach, and Trinidie Nichols were each perfect from the free throw line.
- Carroll College out rebounded the Bulldogs 54-25
- The Bulldogs forced the Saints into 15 turnovers and recorded 10 steals.
