Montana Western Cruises Past OUAZ 92-73

University of Montana Western Press Release

BUTTE, Mont. — The University of Montana Western Bulldogs wrapped up non-conference play with a convincing 92-73 victory over OUAZ on Saturday, showcasing a balance of offensive firepower and defensive intensity.

Montana Western overcame an early OUAZ lead as Quincy Taylor hit a key three-pointer to spark a scoring run. David Young added another critical three, helping the Bulldogs seize control and build a 48-37 advantage by halftime.

In the second half, Montana Western extended their lead behind strong performances from Young and Kyle Gruhler, who combined for 43 points. Emanuel Steward contributed on both ends of the floor, helping the Bulldogs maintain a suffocating defense that limited OUAZ scoring opportunities. Montana Western held a peak lead of 21 points before cruising to the 92-73 victory.

"Really happy with our response today and how we played. Great finish to non-conference. We have to keep growing and be ready for Frontier play now," Montana Western head coach Patrick Jensen said.

The win improves Montana Western's record to 5-1, giving the Bulldogs momentum as they prepare to open Frontier Conference play at Valley City State on Nov. 21.

David Young led Montana Western with 21 points, while Gruhler added 22.
