BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Western men's basketball team (15-12) fell on the road to No. 15 Montana Tech (21-6) by a score of 80-61 this evening.
Clarence Martin led the Bulldogs with a career-high 13 points.
How It Happened:
Montana Tech opened the game with six straight points to take an early lead. However, baskets by Abi Adedo and Kevin Bethel sparked a 6-1 run, quickly bringing the Bulldogs back into the game.
The Bulldogs then held the Orediggers scoreless for nearly five minutes, during which Billy Carlson knocked down a three-pointer, and Jacob Ankeny scored four consecutive points. Montana Tech responded by closing the half with four straight points, taking a 30-26 lead into the break.
Kolter Merritt helped the Bulldogs cut into the deficit with a highlight-reel dunk and added two free throws following a flagrant foul. However, Montana Tech answered with four three-pointers, regaining momentum and extending its lead to 47-36 midway through the half.
Tech maintained a high shooting percentage, finishing the game at 49.1%, while continuing to score effectively in the paint. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs struggled offensively, shooting just 33.9% from the field.
