Six Bulldogs Selected for Inaugural Learfield Collegiate All-Star Rodeo

DILLON, Mont. – Six Montana Western rodeo athletes have been picked to represent the Bulldogs at Learfield's inaugural Collegiate All-Star Rodeo at Colorado State University's Canvas Stadium July 10.

The head-to-head competition kicks off at 6:45 pm MT and will be available to watch on Fox Nation. It features two 30-person teams picked from 19 Learfield College Rodeo partner programs. The Bulldogs will compete on the North Team alongside athletes from Black Hills State, Dickinson State, Idaho State, Iowa State, Montana, Montana State, Utah State, and Wyoming.

ORDER OF EVENTS
The event kicks off with breakaway roping followed by bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, goat tying, bull riding, and barrel racing.

WHO'S WHO
Here are the student-athletes repping the Bulldogs in Fort Collins:
HEAD-TO-HEAD FORMAT
One-on-one matchups across nine disciplines create a fast-paced, team-driven competition. Each discipline features three head-to-head matchups, with athletes going directly against an opponent from the opposing team.

Timed events run simultaneously using a synchronized light system, while rough stock events compete back-to-back within each matchup.

THE MATCHUPS
In the breakaway roping, Tynell McInenly will face off against Cal Poly's Haleigh Grant.

Jeremy Kay will take on Dahl Winters from Colorado Mesa in the bareback riding.

For team roping, Jake Deveraux and Luke Garrison will be up against Clark Gordon (West Alabama) and Hayden Clay (Southern Arkansas).

Cardell Laughery was drawn against Matt Cicisly from Cal Poly in the saddle bronc riding.

Finally, Gavin Knutson will compete against Morgan Merrill out of Oklahoma State.

The full draw sheet can be found here.

SCORING
Teams will compete across 27 total matchups (three per discipline), with each matchup earning one point for the winner.

If a matchup does not produce a winner, the point rolls over — increasing the value of the next matchup to two points, then three, and so on until a winner is determined.

All 27 matchups are contested, regardless of early results. Even if one team builds an early lead, the competition continues through every discipline. The highest total point score at the end determines the champion.
