UMW Rodeo Places Second at Montana Western Home Rodeo

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western men's and women's rodeo teams finished second at the 2026 Montana Western Rodeo Saturday night.

The men's team finished with 660 points while the women earned 285 points.

"We're excited to be able to perform in front of our home town and proud of the kids," head coach JT Robbins said. "We maintained out position and had some huge performances. It's a special thing to watch our seniors compete in the home rodeo for the last time, but we are on to the next one now.

UMW won three events in the long go, one in the short go, and one in the average.

LONG GO RESULTS
Bareback Riding
Quaide Skjonsberg (76), Quentin Personeni (74), and Jeremy Kay (70), placed second, third, and fourth in the long go bareback, respectively.

Breakaway Roping
Kassidy Bremner finished fourth in the breakaway with a 3.3-second effort.

Saddle Bronc
Randon Boyce earned a 70 in the opening round saddle bronc, tying for fourth.

Steer Wrestling
Luke Garrison laid down a 4.1-second run to win the long go steer wrestling.

Goat Tying
Kaylee Kesl posted a 6.7 to lead the goat tying.

Team Roping
Luke Garrison and Tate Poppe finished atop the team roping standings after one round with a 6.8-second effort while Murphy Gaasch and Clay Pendergrass finished fourth overall with an 8.7.

SHORT GO RESULTS
Bareback Riding
Quaide Skjonsberg put up an 83 to win the championship round bareback riding. Jeremy Kay placed third with a 63.

Tie-Down Roping
Kaweloanu Castro tied for fifth in the tie-down with a 12.8-second run.

Breakaway Roping
Kassidy Bremner (4.4) and Charlee Resch (4.5) placed fourth and t-5th in the short-go breakaway.

Saddle Bronc
Cade Costello registered a 72 in the saddle bronc, finishing fourth in the short go.

Goat Tying
Kaylee Kesl placed fifth in the goat tying with a 7.2-second ride while Tynell McInenly finished close behind in sixth with a 7.3.

Barrel Racing
Georgia King put up a 17.7 in the short go barrels to tie for fourth. Sierra Telford's 17.94 put her tied for sixth.

Team Roping
Luke Garrison and Tate Poppe placed third in the team roping with a 12.3 while Murphy Gaasch and Clay Pendergrass finished fourth with a 13.4-second run.

AVERAGE RESULTS
Bareback Riding
Two clean rides put Quaide Skjonsberg at the top of the bareback standings with a 159 combined score.

Jeremy Kay placed third with a 133 over two rides while Quentin Personeni finished fourth with a one-ride scored of 74.

Tie-Down Roping
Kaweloanu Castro earned a sixth-place finished with a 27.3 over two rounds in the tie-down.

Breakaway Roping
Kassidy Bremner (7.7) and Charlee Resch (8.0) finished fourth and sixth in the breakaway, respectively.

Saddle Bronc
Cade Costello's 137 two-ride score put him fifth in the saddle bronc.

Steer Wrestling
Luke Garrison finished sixth in the steer wrestling average with a 4.1-second one-score run.

Goat Tying
Kaylee Kesl (13.9) and Tynell McInenly (14.3) placed second and fourth in the goat tying respectively.

Barrel Racing
Georgia King's 35.46 over two rides placed her fifth in the barrel average.

Team Roping
Luke Garrison and Tate Poppe earned a second-place finish in the team roping with a 19.1 over two rides. Murphy Gaasch and Clay Pendergrass were close behind in third with a 22.1/.
