Right off the bat, junior transfer,
Dom Robinson (Tacoma, Wash.) scored the first points of his Bulldog career and the first points for the Bulldog 2016-2017 season. During the first half Head Coach
Steve Keller went with a five player rotation, subbing guys in every five minutes. This allowed players
Kooper Kidgell (Billings, Mont.) and
Troy Scott (Dillon, Mont.) to come in early and provide Western a spark both offensively and defensively. The Bulldogs went into halftime with a commanding 58-33 lead, lead by Kidgell's 14 points, and 5 assists along with
Troy Scott's hot shooting hand going 3-3 from behind the arc.
The Bulldogs began the second half strong, running the court and generating easy buckets from all over the floor, including a two handed slam from junior forward
Marcus Payne (Livingston, Mont.). Some of the other second half highlights included some fancy passing from Robinson who finished with 3 assists and true freshman Derek Durocher's (Choteau, Mont.) long distance three pointers.
All eleven Bulldog players found themselves in the scoring column with Kidgell recording a game high 23 points on an impressive 8-11 shooting. Brian Neal (Tacoma, Wash.) contributed 17 points in 16 total minutes of court time. The Bulldogs had 6 total players in double figures in a strong season opener in front of the home crowd.
Zachary Mills of Salish Kootenai College led the way in scoring for the Bison with 21 points on 8-18 shooting.
Bulldogs are in back in action at home Friday Oct. 28 and Saturday Oct 29 against Northwest Indian College. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm in Straugh Gymnasium.
