There was no question the Bulldogs were the better team tonight. In the first half the Bulldogs and Eagles traded buckets keeping it close for the first seven minutes before All-American guard
Shyke Smalls (Great Falls, Mont.) and the Bulldogs went on a 23-4 run to close out the first 20 minutes of play. Keller's defense forced 16 turnovers in the first half and the offense quickly turned those into points on the other end.
In the second half the Bulldogs came out fast, out scoring the Eagles 70-18. The half was highlighted by
Zaccheus Darko-Kelly's (Missoula, Mont.) one-handed slam over an Eagle defender. The Bulldogs shot 54 percent from the field and had nine players in double figures. Dillon's own
Troy Scott had a team high of 22 points (5-8 FG, 10-13 FT) highlighted by an outstanding 4-point play late in the 2nd half. Sophomore Cameron Evans (Billings, Mont.) recorded his first double-double on the season hauling in 10 rebounds and scoring 15 points, while teammate
Kooper Kidgell (Billings, Mont.) chipped in 18 points and five assists. Smalls had a solid all around night filling up the stat columns with 12 points, five assists, three rebounds and four steals.
The Bulldogs and Eagles will meet again on Oct. 29 at 7:30p.m. MST.Â
