Bulldogs Trample Eastern Oregon 30-21

Story of the Day
The Montana Western Bulldogs, overcame a slow start to beat the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers 30-21 at Vigilante Stadium in Dillon, Mont. Trailing 7-0 after the first quarter the Bulldogs were able to put a drive together resulting in a Ryan Sullivan two yard touchdown reception from Bennett Gibson.  After a long touchdown pass from Eastern Oregon, Hunter Thomsen tied things up at 14 just before half with an 11 yard touchdown run.
After a Jason Ferris sacked Eastern Oregon's quarterback in the endzone for a safety just seconds into the third quarter, Gibson found George Sherwood who broke a tackle and raced for a 54 yard touchdown. Two possessions later Gibson found Melvin Walser for a 70 yard touchdown, and the rout was on. Eastern was able to hold the Bulldog offense scoreless for the remainder of the game. And put together a scoring drive midway through the fourth quarter. But the Bulldog defense would not allow to Eastern to get any close stopping the Mountaineers on fourth down late in the game to seal the victory.

Stars of the Game
Sophomore Linebacker Jason Ferris had 15 tackles, two and a half tackles for loss, and one sack for a safety.
Senior Running Back Hunter Thomsen had 132 yards on 26 carries and a touchdown.
Senior Wide Receiver/Punter George Sherwood had three catches for 124 yards and a 54 yard touchdown, and had six punts for 265 yards including a 67 yard boot.

Stat of the Game
Gibson was able to find seven different receivers, five of whom had three catches each.  
 
The Bulldogs So Far
The Bulldogs improved to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the conference. The Mountaineers dropped to 2-5 overall and in the conference.

Up Next
The Bulldogs will travel to Ashland Ore. Next week to take on No. 7 Southern Oregon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Mountain time.
