Bulldogs Lose in Straight Sets to Carroll

Score: Montana Western 0 –  Carroll College 3 (22-25, 17-25, 23-25)
Record: UMW (7-13, 0-6), CC (12-9, 3-4)
Location: Straugh Gymnasium - Dillon, Mont. 

The Bulldogs fell in straight sets to Carroll College Thursday night. The Bulldogs jumped out to fast start, scoring the first four points en route to a 13-7 lead. The Saints used a six point rally to tie the set at 13. The teams then traded points until Carroll scored the finals three points to claim the first set. In the second set, the Bulldogs took a 10-7 lead before the Saints scored 10 straight points to take a 17-10 lead and never looked back to the 25-17 win. The Bulldogs held a five point for most of the third set building a 19 -13 lead the Saints then scored 12 of the next 16 points to escape Dillon with the straight set victory. 

Top Performers

  • Emmah Peterson had a game-high .357 hitting percentage with seven kills and two blocks
  • Tannah Sellers recorded 24 digs. 
  • Madison Richtmyer had 16 assists and six digs. 
  • Sophia Spoja had a .269 hitting percentage with 12 kills, and eight blocks for the Saints.
  • Ayla Carpenter recorded a game-high 27 digs for Carroll College. 
  • Ali Williams had 30 assists and five digs.

The Bulldogs will head north to the Hi-Line to face MSU-Northern in Havre, Mont. on Oct. 19. The Match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in the Armory Gymnasium.
