MSU-Northern Stuns Bulldogs in Five

The Basics
Score: Montana Western 2 – (Montana State University - Northern 3 (25-20, 25-21,14-25, 10-25, 10-15)
Record: UMW (7-8. 0-3), MSUN (11-9, 1-2)
Location: Armory Gymnasium - Havre, Mont. 

The Bulldogs fell in five sets to MSU-Northern Saturday night on the Hi-Line. MSU-Northern completed a rally by dominating the third and fourth sets to force the decisive fifth. UMW won the first two sets...before Northern scored 10 straight points in the third to break open a close set. The Skylights continued the offensive momentum in the fourth, easily winning 25-10. The fifth set was tight early on, before MSUN scored six of the last seven points to complete the comeback.

Top Performers

  • Danyel Martin had 11 kills, a .391 hitting percentage and four blocks. 
  • Kelsey Goddard recorded 21 digs and two assists. 
  • Abbey Schwager had 25 assists and 10 digs. 
  • Rylee Burmester had a match-high 15 kills for MSU-Northern.
  • Emily Feller had 52 assists for the Skylights.
  • Shaina Nuebauer  had 27 digs for Northern. 

Inside the Box Score

  • The Skylights had four players with double-digit kills.

The Bulldogs will return home for a pair of matches this week. Hosting Montana Tech on Oct. 6 and Rocky Mountain College on Oct. 8. First serve is set for 7 p.m. both nights.
