LEWISTON, Idaho - Montana Western (6-1) opened the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic with a 73-64 win over Corban University (2-1) 73-64 Friday afternoon.
Jalen Hodges scored 29 points as the Bulldogs beat a good Corban team to continue the hot start to the season. Hodges was 10-16 from the field, made eight free throws, pulled down five rebounds and had four assists.
Montana Western jumped out to a quick 18-6 lead and took a 29-24 advantage into the halftime locker room. UMW shot 48 percent and made eight 3-point field goals. The Bulldogs held Corban to just four made shots from beyond the arc and despite being out rebounded (44-35) held a ten point lead for most of the second half.
Michael Haverfield scored 14 points and
Jamal Stephenson added 11
Taylor Anderson led Corban with 15 points and four rebounds.

The Bulldogs had 13 assists on 26 made field goals.
The Bulldogs will face No. 20 Lewis-Cark State College on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in Lewiston, Idaho.
