CALDWELL, Idaho—The Montana Western Bulldogs (7-3) finished the weekend in Caldwell with a win against the Lions of Multnomah (4-4), 77-70.
The two teams were closely matched at the half with Montana Western up by two, 35-33. The Bulldogs' offense persisted, however, with only one turnover (of five) in the second half. They shot an impressive 43 percent from the arc in the second and finished the game nine of 27.
The Bulldogs had 14 points from free-throws (14-17); the Lions only had three (3-6).
"I'm really proud of the way our guys kept battling for 40 minutes, especially in the second half--we really started playing our style of basketball and it's very fun to watch," coach
Mike Larsen said.
Tanner Haverfield had an impressive game with 15 points, shooting five of eight from the field and five of six from the 3-point line. He also added five rebounds, three assists, and had no turnovers.
Max Clark led the Bulldogs with 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Jok Jok added six rebounds.
Tyrese Taylor scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lions.
The Bulldogs compete next weekend in Dickinson, N.D. at the Milanovich Classic.
