Bulldogs Defeat Lights 65-63 to Sweep Weekend Series

Location: Armory Gymnasium - Havre, Mont.

Jamal Stephenson hit the game winning 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds left to cap a wild sequence of events to give the Bulldogs a 65-63 win over the Northern Lights to sweep the weekend series and take the season series three games to one. The Lights were up one with under 20 seconds left in the game and the Bulldogs needed a stop. Stephenson and Jalen Hodges played good defense forcing the lights into a bad pass that was stolen by Carlos Allen with seven seconds left. Allen handed the ball off to Max Clark who sprinted up the court and dished to Stephenson who hit the dragger from deep. Tanner Haverfield intercepted the Lights inbounds pass and the Bulldogs left the Hi-Line victorious. 

Top Performers 
  • Jalen Hodges scored a career-high 29 points, going 13 of 18 from the field. He added three rebounds, two steals and a block.
  • Max Clark recorded his second double-double of the season scoring 19 points and dishing out 11 dimes. He added five rebounds and a block. 
  • Jomel Boyd scored 22 points, 10 rebounds and three steals for MSU-Northern. 
  • Mascio McCadney scored 15 points and three rebounds for the Lights. 
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs shot 53.8 percent from the field.
  • The Lights went 1-13 from 3-point range. Their only make came at the 10:07 mark of the second half. 
  •  There were 10 lead changes and seven ties. 

Up Next
The Bulldogs will head to Great Falls, Mont. to face No. 10 University of Providence on Feb. 17. Tip-off from the McLaughlin Center is set for 6 p.m.
