DILLON, Mont.  – The University of Montana Western Rodeo team is heading to College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) for a chance to compete for a national championship.

Both the Bulldog men's women's teams finished second in the Big Sky Region to qualify for the CNFR.  

In the men's events, Regional champions Brody Smith, Bryce Harrison, and Alonzo Skunkcap will represent the Bulldogs in the bareback, steer wrestling, and team roping. Also in the Team Roping are Jake Cerini and James Ramirez. Ethan Stensrud will go in the tie-down roping.

In the women's events,  Regional Champion Ryland Lufkin is joined by Breanna Jenkins and Mikayla Witter in the breakaway roping. Emmy Ilgen will participate in the goat tying.

"I think we are sitting pretty good, we are confident and have a chance in every one of our events," head coach Kody Lahaye said. "I think we are going to make some noise down there."

The CNFR is set to start Sunday, June 13 at 1 p.m. with "Bulls Broncs and Breakaway." Slack will take place all day Monday and Tuesday morning, with the performances starting Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Each cowboy and cowgirl will get three attempts, with the top 12 advancing to the championship short-go on Saturday, June 19 at 7 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, the performances will be broadcast on ESPN3
