Bulldog Football Knocks off Undefeated No. 7 College of Idaho 40-35

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western Bulldog football team downed No. 7 ranked College of Idaho today in a nail-biter on Vigilante Field. Quarterback Jon Jund threw for 354 yards with four passing touchdowns, rushed for 48 yards, a receiving touchdown, and had a successful two-point conversion. Trey Mounts had nine receptions for 179 yards and three touchdowns, averaging just under 20 yards per catch. Kameron Rauser led the Bulldog defense with nine tackles. Tanner Harrell had two sacks for a total loss of 26 yards.

"I am proud of the guys and how they responded over the last few weeks. We started a reset on our program on how we are going to operate and what we are going to do. They had pride, effort, and belief in what we were going to do. We finally played some Bulldog football again and it feels great." coach Ryan Nourse said after the game.

How it Happened
The Bulldog offense started out on the field and scored quickly on a five-play, 70-yard drive that was capped off by a Jund 32-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Thomas. The defense made a statement as they forced a three and out on the Yotes' first drive of the game. After trading punts between the two teams, the Bulldogs had all of the momentum. They marched down the field and took a two-possession lead over the Yotes just after the start of the second quarter with a Colten McPhee rushing touchdown from two-yards out. With a score of 14-0 Bulldogs, momentum shifted as the Coyotes went on a 12-play 54-yard drive that ended in a touchdown by Yotes running back Hunter Gilbert. After a fumble on the following Bulldog kick-return, the Yotes recovered the ball with great field position on the Western 20-yard line. The Yotes capitalized and scored just three plays later, tying the game at 14 all. Just before the half, the Bulldog offense kicked it into gear and was able to drive 82-yards down the field in just one minute and twenty-six seconds. With twenty-nine seconds remaining in the first half, Jund completed his first of three touchdown passes to Trey Mounts, giving the Bulldogs the lead at the half 20-14.

The Yotes offense jumped out quickly at the start of the second half as they scored in just four plays, bringing the score to 21-20 Yotes. However, they were unable to hang on to the lead as Jund completed a 63-yard touchdown pass on the next drive to Mounts that gave the Bulldogs the lead once again at 26-21. The Yotes answered back quickly after just a four-play drive, bringing the score to 28-26. The Bulldogs did not let it phase them as they followed again with a surprising Reese Neville 16-yard touchdown pass to Jund to give the Bulldogs the lead again at 34-28. The Bulldog defense came in the next drive and held the Yotes at the Western 18 yard-line with a Cody Whalen interception on fourth down. The fourth quarter began with College of Idaho's last touchdown of the game, giving them a lead at 35-34. With 11:07 left in the game, the Bulldogs took the lead for the final time on a Jund 39-yard touchdown pass to Mounts. The Bulldog defense stepped up to the challenge as they had two more fourth down stops. The first of which saw the Bulldogs stuff Yotes running back Hunter Gilbert on fourth and inches. The second and game winning stop saw Tanner Harrell grab his second sack of the game in dramatic fashion. The Bulldogs ran out the remaining time on the clock to solidify their victory over the previously undefeated Yotes.
