DICKINSON, N.D. - The Montana Western Bulldog Men's Basketball team lost to Dakota State University this evening by a score of 82-68. The Bulldogs now move to 5-5 on the season after tonight's loss.
How it Happened
The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 11-5 lead at the start of the game. With 13 minutes left in the half, the Trojans kicked off an 8-0 run that gave them the lead at 13-11. With just under two minutes to play,
Brenton Woods hit a three-pointer and
Tanner Haverfield hit a pair of free throws that tied the game at 33 heading into the half. Â
The Trojans would build a 15-point lead in the first part of the second half that the Bulldogs had to chip away at. An 11-2 run that included a Trojan technical foul helped bring the Bulldogs within striking distance at five points; however, the Trojans answered right back behind a pair of made three-point shots. Though there were sparks throughout, the Bulldogs were unable to build enough momentum to get back in the game and allowed the Trojans to win 82-68.
Notables
- The Bulldogs were outshot this evening 54.4 percent to 36.7 from the field. The Trojans also went 8-14 from the three-point line in the second half alone, sealing the fate for the Bulldogs.
- The Trojans outrebounded the Bulldogs 40-24 from the boards, with the Bulldogs only picking up for offensive boards in the game.
- Ky Kouba led the Bulldogs with 15 points, four rebounds, and shot 50 percent from the field. He also added three assists and two steals.
- Brenton Woods tacked on 13 points and four assists. He also had two steals and two rebounds.

The Bulldogs head into their first conference game this week with a matchup against No. 16 Carroll College on Dec. 1 at 7PM MST in Helena, Mont. The Fighting Saints are currently 4-1 on their season with their next matchup being against the Bulldogs.
