BUTTE, Mont.—The Montana Western Bulldogs (19-13, 7-8) put up a fight against the No. 14 Montana Tech Orediggers (25-6, 14-2) in the semifinal Frontier Conference matchup; the Bulldogs lost by two, 68-70.
The Bulldogs held Montana Tech to eight field goals on 24 percent shooting in the first half. Montana Western shot 37 percent on the half, but still led the Orediggers 33-25 at the half.
Montana Tech got off to a hot start in the second half—they went on a 14-3 run at the 16-minute mark. The Orediggers led by eight, 68-60 with under two minutes to play.
Jamal Stephenson went to the foul line and improved the Bulldogs' score by two. On the Orediggers' inbound,
Colter Miller forced a turnover; Stephenson drove in and drew the foul. He went to the line for another two, upping the Bulldogs' score to 64. Montana Tech's Sindou Diallo drew a shooting foul on the other end but missed both free throws. With one minute left, Stephenson got another layup to improve the score to 66. The Bulldogs stopped the Orediggers' offense on the other end with
Jok Jok's fifth block of the night. Montana Tech fouled Stephenson once more in the Bulldogs' front court, sending him to the line for another two free throws. With 27 seconds on the clock, Montana Western tied up the game 68-68. The Orediggers ran down the clock. Diallo drove the ball in with six seconds left and scored a layup.

- Max Clark had a double-double for the Bulldogs—17 points and 13 rebounds.
- Stephenson dished out three assists for the Bulldogs; he was 8-8 from the foul line, six of which were in the last two minutes.
