DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western Men's Basketball team defeated Rocky Mountain College this evening by a score of 76-60. The Bulldogs move on to 8-10 overall this season and 3-2 in conference play.
"I feel really good about this one. All 14 guys that played tonight scored. Really really good and unselfish basketball and had 19 assists. For us, we want to keep it rolling in conference and keep rolling with what we are doing. I feel really good about it." Head Coach

How It Happened
The Bulldogs kept an even pace with the Battlin' Bears for the first eight minutes of the game.
Jaden Graham hit a pair of free throws to tie the game up at 10 with 12:52 on the clock. A quick 5-0 run put the Bulldogs up 19-15 with just under eight minutes on the clock.
Ky Kouba snagged a steal off of Rocky that led to
Michael Haverfield draining a three-pointer, giving the Bulldogs their largest lead of the game at seven. Battlin' Bear Cade Tyson broke a three-minute scoring stalemate between the two teams with consecutive jump shots, cutting the Bulldog lead down to 26-23 with 45 seconds left in the half.
Brenton Woods knocked down a three-pointer from the top of the arc to put UMW up 29-23 at the end of the first half.
Riding behind a 7-0 scoring run coming out of the break, the Bulldogs jumped out to take a 36-23 lead. Rocky completed a four-point play to cut the Bulldog lead back down to nine, but it was not enough to stop the Bulldog's explosiveness. The Bulldog men broke open another 11-0 scoring run that saw three straight threes from Burckley, Haverfield, and
Jamal Stephenson. Rocky worked hard to get back into the game and used a 7-2 scoring run to cut into the Bulldog lead at 67-50 with 2:25 left in the game. Despite the late push, the Bulldogs were able to hold off the Battlin' Bears to take the game 76-60.
Notables
- The Bulldogs shot 48.3 percent from the field in tonight's game, they also hit 11-27 three-pointers for a 40.7 three-point percentage.
- The Bulldogs totaled 19 assists overall in the game, tying their season high set on December 1 against Carroll College.
- UMW capitalized on Rocky turnovers as they scored 17 points, compared to Rocky's nine.
- Michael Haverfield led the way for the Bulldogs after he was a perfect 4-4 from the arc in the second half, recording 17 points in the game and three rebounds.
- Jamal Stephenson added nine points and three assists.
- Grayson Nelson led the Bulldogs on the boards after he picked up six rebounds.

The Bulldogs are back on the court this Saturday January 14 at 4PM MST as they take on the No. 12 ranked Montana Tech Orediggers. The last time the two teams faced, the Bulldogs handed the Orediggers their second loss of the season in a close 67-64 battle. Since that game, the Orediggers have stretched their overall record to 16-2 behind a seven-game win streak.
