DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western Men's Basketball team fell to the No. 12 ranked Montana Tech Orediggers this evening by a score of 75-64. The Bulldogs are now 8-11 on the season and 3-3 in Frontier Conference play.
How It Happened
The Orediggers took a 10-5 lead over the Bulldogs right off the get go, but the Bulldogs answered as
Brenton Woods drained back-to-back threes to give UMW the lead at 12-11.
With 11:33 on the clock,
Jaden Graham hit a three-pointer to boost the Bulldogs to their largest lead of the half at five. The two teams followed with strong defensive stands, holding each team scoreless for a four-minute stretch.
The Orediggers broke the no-score stretch after a layup that brought the score to 23-22 with 8:09 left in the half. Three lead changes and a pair of three-pointers from Graham and Kouba put the Bulldogs up 35-32 at the half.
The Orediggers kicked it into gear early in the second half by going on a 7-0 scoring run to take back the lead over UMW.
Ky Kouba hit a three-pointer with 14:08 on the clock, cutting the Tech lead down to 46-44.
Montana Tech continued to run the score up as the Bulldogs went ice cold, hitting just one bucket across a seven-minute stretch.
Jok Jok made eight straight points for the Bulldogs, breaking the UMW scoring lull.
Ky Kouba and
Michael Haverfield banged back-to-back three-pointers to cut into the Oredigger lead and bring the Bulldogs back within striking distance at 72-64. Despite the late push, the Bulldogs were unable to get back into it with just over a minute remaining and fell to the Orediggers 75-64.

- The Bulldogs led the Orediggers at the half 35-32 after putting up a 53.3 percent shooting percentage from the arc.
- The Orediggers outshot the Bulldogs across the game, shooting 50.9 percent from the field compared to the Bulldog's 34.8 percent.
- Montana Western outscored the Orediggers on second chance points 10-6 and got 27 points from their reserves.
- Ky Kouba led the Bulldogs with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. He hit four three-pointers in the matchup.
- Jok Jok (13 points, five rebounds) and Brenton Woods (12 points, six assists) followed shortly behind in scoring.
- Michael Haverfield hit two of five three pointers in tonight's game. He currently leads the Frontier Conference in three-point percentage and sits third in the NAIA.
