DILLON, Mont. — The Bulldog Men's Basketball team lost in a conference matchup against Carroll College by a score of 85-81. The Bulldogs move to 8-12 on the season and 3-4 in Frontier Conference play.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs made it rain from the three-point line to get off to a 12-4 lead over the Saints. Despite the hot start, the Saints were able to slash the Bulldog lead to just three with 11:18 left in the first half.
Jamal Stephenson hit a three halfway through the first half, pushing the Bulldogs back up to an eight-point lead. Though the two teams battled it out, the Saints were able to close the gap and take the lead over the Bulldogs with 3 minutes remaining.
Up 37-36 on the Bulldogs, the Saints grabbed onto a 12-3 scoring ride over the Bulldogs and went into the half up by 10 at 49-39.
The Bulldogs worked their way back within striking distance early in the second half, cutting the Saints lead down to just three points after a pair of threes from
Ky Kouba and
Michael Haverfield.
Though it seemed the Bulldogs were hitting their stride again, the Saints utilized a timeout and went on to stretch their lead to 15 on the Bulldogs with five minutes left in the game.
Stephenson led a late surge for the Bulldogs, scoring seven straight points to get the Bulldogs back into the swing of it and fueling the defense to force six unsuccessful possession, including three turnovers.
The Bulldogs capitalized on the opportunity and closed the gap to just two points after
Jok Jok slammed it down with 45 seconds remaining. Despite the late push, the Bulldogs were unable to flip score and fell in the final seconds 85-81 to the Saints.

- Carroll College extends their win streak over the Bulldogs, winning 16 of the last 17 contests between the two teams.
- The Bulldogs were outshot from the field 58.5 to 46.0 percent. The Bulldogs were 14-37 from the arc.
- The Saints outrebounded the Bulldogs 31-21 in the matchup. They also were able to capitalize on Bulldogs turnovers, churning out 17 points off of turnovers.
- The UMW bench helped with 38 points in the matchup.
- Jamal Stephenson led the Bulldogs with a season-high 26 points and two rebounds.
- Three Bulldogs hit double-digits: Brenton Woods (13 pts), Tanner Haverfield (12 pts), and Ky Kouba (10 pts).

The Bulldogs hope to get back on track this weekend with a game on Saturday at the University of Providence in Great Falls, Mont. Tip-off is at 4pm MST. The two teams faced off back on January 5 and the Argos topped the Bulldogs by just one at 74-73.
