UMW Volleyball Completes Season Sweep Over Mayville State

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (9-11, 7-6 FC) earned the win against Mayville State (5-12, 3-9 FC) 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-16) Friday night in Straugh Gymnasium. With the win, the Bulldogs completed the double over the Comets in 2025.
 
"The team played well tonight and played as a team," Head Coach Katie Lovett said. "It was nice to get back on track and we are looking forward to playing Valley City tomorrow."
 
NOTABLES
Kennedy Lingenfelter hit a game-high .500 clip, posting 11 kills on 22 error-free swings.
 
Megan Hardman recorded her fourth straight double-double with 17 assists and 10 digs.
 
Ketchum registered a career-high 28 digs.
 
UMW hit over .240 as a team, including over .300 in two of the four sets.
 
MATCH SUMMARY
The Comets struck first, taking the opening set 25-21 thanks in part to eight errors from the Bulldogs. UMW leveled the score 1-1 in the second with a 25-21 win. The Bulldogs found their rhythm in the third frame, dominating 25-13 to take the 2-1 lead. Western's defense stepped up in the final set, forcing the Comets into a -.108 hitting percentage as they cruised to the 3-1 victory with a 25-16 set four win.

LEADERBOARD
  • Averi Look led the Bulldogs with 12 kills.
  • Taylor Petersen paced the offense with 24 assists.
  • Ketchum tallied a game-best 28 digs.
  • Lingenfelter posted a game-best 5.0 blocks.
  • Ketchum and Hardman led the team with two aces apiece
 
SPLIT BOX
Montana Western held the statistical advantage across the board, leading in kills (53-39), assists (47-29), digs (74-67), blocks (9-2), and service aces (7-3).

LOOKING AHEAD
The Bulldogs take the court again tomorrow when they host Valley City State for a Saturday morning contest. First serve is set for 10 a.m. MT.
