Montana Western Cross Country Competes at Bengal Invitational Friday

DILLON, Mont. – The UMW men's and women's cross-country teams head to Pocatello, Idaho, Friday to compete in the Bengal Invitational hosted by Idaho State. The women's 5k will kick things off at 11:00 a.m. MT with the men's 8k following at 12 p.m. MT.

LAST TIME OUT
The Western men's team finished seventh and the women placed ninth at the Montana Invite in Missoula Sept. 19. Siblings Brant Heiner and Olivia Heiner were the top Bulldog finishers.

Brant ran a 27:58.6 to finish 47th out of 77 competitors in the men's 8k. Olivia clocked a 21:10.3 to take 41st out of 72 runners in the women's 5k.

DYNAMIC DUO
Brant Heiner and Harrison Silverio have been the top two men's runners for Western this season, with both earning the top Bulldog spot once and the team's second spot once.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Olivia Heiner and Justene Santi have finished 1-2 for the Bulldogs in both of their first two meets of the season.

ON YOUR MARK… SET…
Competing on the women's side for Montana Western are Olivia Heiner, Kylee Wyatt, Maddie Faulkner, and Ashley Murnion.

For the men's team, Kreg Butler, Brody Henry, Brant Heiner, Mason Lynch, Noah Rovente, Harrison Silverio, Cael Thilmony, Tristan Von Bargen, Bridger Wheeler, and Wyatt Yeager will take the course.

MEET THE COMPETITION
The field consists of eight teams, including Idaho State, MSU-Northern, Montana Tech, Providence, Southern Idaho, Utah State, Weber State, and Montana Western.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend when they travel to Billings, Mont., to take part in the Yellowjackets/ Battlin' Bears Invite. The women's race kicks off at 12 p.m. MT with the men's following at 12:45 p.m. MT.
