Bulldog Volleyball Hosts #7 Bellevue and #24 Dakota State for Midweek Matchups

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (10-13, 8-8 FC) welcome #7 Bellevue (18-3, 14-2 FC) and #24 Dakota State (14-6, 10-5 FC) to Straugh Gymnasium Wednesday and Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs went 1-1 last weekend in two five-set matches. They fell to Bismarck State 3-2 Friday (25-17. 25-20, 24-26, 22-25, 14-16) before bouncing back with a 3-2 victory over Dickinson State Saturday (27-25, 23-25, 21-25, 28-26, 15-10).
 
Against the Mystics, Averi Look paced the team with 15 kills, Taylor Petersen dished out 30 assists, Taylor Ketchum earned 19 digs, and Olivia Rosborough tallied 6.0 blocks. Ketchum and Morgyn Harrison each landed two service aces.
 
At DSU, Look once again topped the team in kills (16) while Petersen led the Bulldogs in assists (32), Harrison recorded a team-best 24 digs, Rosborough earned 7.0 blocks, and three different players registered an ace.
 
BULLDOG BEAT
Montana Western has tallied 966 kills (11.6 k/s), 898 assists (10.8 a/s), 1,368 digs (16.5 d/s), 181 blocks (2.2 b/s), and 116 service aces (1.4 sa/s) on the year. The team's best tally in kills (71), assists (67), and digs (93) came in its five-set victory at Dickinson State (10/18). The Bulldogs also tied their season high in blocks with 13.0 against the Blue Hawks (also tallied 13.0 blocks at Valley City State Sept. 5). UMW's highest total in service aces is 13, which occurred in the win over Arizona Christian (8/30) and its best single-game hitting percentage was .298 against Bismarck State (9/13).
 
Kennedy Lingenfelter paces the team in kills (177, 2.19 k/s), hitting percentage (.287, minimum 100 attempts), and total blocks (75.0). Jordan Olson leads the Bulldogs in kills per set (2.59) and Jaiden Perez tops the team in blocks per set (1.17). Megan Hardman runs the court with 328 assists (4.70 assists/set) and has landed a team-best 20 services aces. Taylor Ketchum has registered a team-high 335 digs (4.24 digs/set).
 
WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY
Two Bulldogs are ranked in the top 10 in the Frontier Conference in blocks per set. Jaiden Perez sits fourth (1.17) and Kennedy Lingenfelter ranks ninth (0.93). Perez is tied for 22nd in the nation in blocks per set.
 
ACCESS DENIED
UMW ranks third in the league and tied for 21st in the nation in blocks per set (2.2). Moreover, the Bulldogs have registered at least 7.0 blocks in seven of their last 10 matches and 15 times on the year.
 
FEELIN' FINE FROM THE SERVICE LINE
Western landed seven or more service aces in three of their last five matches, and are averaging 1.4 aces per set in 2025. The Bulldogs rank fifth in the Frontier in service aces
 
SEEING DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Megan Hardman has tallied a double-double in each of her last six appearances for the Bulldogs. Her streak began Oct. 3 against MSU-Northern with a 27-dig, 16 assist performance. The five others came against Providence (28 assists, 11 digs), Montana Tech (20 assists, 12 digs), Mayville State (17 assists, 10 digs), Valley City State (18 assists, 10 digs), and Dickinson State (27 assists, 10 digs). She now has eight double-doubles on the season.
 
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
Kennedy Lingenfelter has hit over .300 in seven of her last 10 appearances, highlighted by a .500 clip (11 kills, 22 attempts, zero errors) against Mayville State (10/10).
 
HITTING HER STRIDE
Averi Look has led the Bulldogs in kills in three of her last five matches, tallying 12 against Mayville State (10/10), 15 at Bismarck State (10/17), and a season-high 16 at Dickinson State (10/18). She has recorded four double-digit kill performances on the season, all coming in the second half of the campaign.

HOW MAY SHE ASSIST YOU?
Taylor Petersen registered back-to-back performances with 30 or more assists, posting 30 against the Mystics and 32 against the Blue Hawks. The 32 assists mark a season high.
 
DIG DEEP
Morgyn Harrison tallied a career-high 24 digs against Dickinson State. It also marked her seventh straight outing with 10 or more digs and 11th on the campaign.  
 
THE OPPONENTS
Bellevue (18-3, 14-2 FC)
  • The Bruins are averaging 13.49 kills, 12.26 assists, 16.27 digs, 2.36 blocks, and 1.7 service aces per set in 2025.
  • As a team, Bellevue leads the Frontier in hitting percentage (.259) while ranking in the top five in assists (fourth), kills (third), blocks (second), and aces (second).
  • Nationally, BU ranks eighth in hitting percentage, ninth in blocks per set, and 13th in kills per set.
  • Eve Fountain paces the team and ranks second in the FC with 3.19 kills per set. She also leads the team with 28 service aces.
  • Kealy Kiviniemi leads team and the Frontier in hitting percentage (.358).
  • Mila Aiwohi dishes out a team-best 5.82 assists per set, putting her fifth in the conference in the category.
  • Savanna Berger ranks first on the team and in the Frontier while ranking 18th in the NAIA in blocks per set 1.28.
  • Zoie Roghair tops the Bruins in digs with 3.67 per set.
 
Dakota State (14-6, 10-5 FC)
  • The Trojans are averaging 14.7 kills, 13.2 assists, 18.5 digs, 1.5 blocks, and 1.4 service aces per set this season.
  • The team leads the conference in kills and assists while ranking second in hitting percentage (.239) and fifth in digs.
  • Across the NAIA, Dakota State sits first in kills, third in assists. 12th in hitting percentage, and 15th in digs.
  • Sophie Tuttle leads the Trojans and the FC with 3.48 kills per set.
  • Macey Wathen sits atop the team and third in the conference in hitting percentage .342.
  • Maddi Langerock hands out a team-best 10.8 assists per set, putting her second in the Frontier and seventh in the nation.
  • Kate VanRooyan paces the team and is fifth in the FC in digs (4.96) and also leads the Trojans with 26 service aces.
  • Lauryn Kloth registers a team-high 0.90 blocks per set.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Western is 1-2 all-time against the Bruins. The first matchup of the season between the two sides saw Bellevue take the 3-0 victory in Nebraska.
 
UMW is 1-1 all-time against Dakota State. Earlier this season, the Bulldogs fell 3-0 to the Trojans on the road. 
 
LOOKING AHEAD
