Montana Western Volleyball to Host (RV) Montana Tech Wednesday

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (8-10, 6-5 FC) welcomes rival Montana Tech (10-7, 6-5 FC) Wednesday night in a midweek matchup in Straugh Gymnasium.

 LAST TIME OUT 
The Bulldogs split the matches last weekend, taking down MSU-Northern 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-11) Friday before falling to #3 Providence 3-1 (31-29, 15-25, 16-25, 16-25)
 
Prior to Saturday's matchup, the Argos had swept seven opponents in a row, and nine of the last 10.
 
Against the Skylights, Jordan Olson led all players with 12 kills. Megan Hardman tallied a game-best 27 assists. Taylor Ketchum earned a game-high tying 22 digs. Kennedy Lingenfelter posted a game-best 7.0 blocks. Ketchum, Morgyn Harrison, and Sophie Worden each landed one service ace in the match.
 
Against the Argos, Dani Brown earned a team-best 13 kills. Hardman recorded a team-high 28 assists. Ketchum led all players with 23 digs. Maxine Hoagland and Olivia Rosborough shared the game-high with 7.0 blocks apiece. Hardman, Harrison, Worden, and Frazier each landed an ace in the contest.
 
 BULLDOG BEAT 
Montana Western has tallied 705 kills, 659 assists, 1,001 digs, 142 blocks, and 88 aces service aces on the year. The team's best tally in kills (60), assists (59), and service aces (13), came in its five-set victory over Arizona Christian (8/30). UMW earned season highs in digs (83) against MSU-Northern (10/3) and blocks (13.0) in its 3-1 win at Valley City State (9/5). They recorded a season-best hitting percentage of .298 against Bismarck State (9/13).
 
Jordan Olson ranks first on the team in kills (145) and kills per set (2.59). Kennedy Lingenfelter paces the team in hitting percentage (.252). Megan Hardman runs the court with 246 assists (4.73 assists/set). Hardman has landed a team-best 15 services aces.
 
Defensively, Ketchum has registered a team-high 255 digs (4.18 digs/set), Jaiden Perez has tallied 61.0 blocks to lead the team.
 
 WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY 
Two Bulldogs are ranked in the top 10 in the Frontier Conference in blocks per set. Jaiden Perez sits 3rd (1.17) and Kennedy Lingenfelter ranks sixth (0.98).
 
 SEEING DOUBLE-DOUBLE 
Megan Hardman earned a double-double against both MSU-Northern and Providence. She put up 27 assists and a career-high 16 digs against the Skylights and followed that with a season-high 28 assists and 11 digs against the Argos.
 
 BRICK WALL 
Maxine Hoagland and Olivia Rosborough both earned a career-high with 7.0 blocks apiece against Providence. They shared the game-high in the category.
 
 THREE PEAT 
Jordan Olson tallied 12 kills against MSU-Northern, marking her third match in a row and sixth time on the campaign with at least 10 kills.
 
 ACCESS DENIED 
UMW ranks second in the league in blocks with 2.33 per set (142.0 total blocks). The Bulldogs have recorded at least seven blocks in seven of their last eight matches and 12 times this season.
 
 THE OPPONENTS 
Montana Tech (10-7, 6-5 FC)
  • The Orediggers have averaged 12.2 kills, 11.7 assists, 14.4 digs, 1.9 blocks, and 2.4 service aces per set so far in 2025.
  • As a team, Montana Tech leads the Frontier in service aces with 2.40 per set (144 total).
  • MT is also third in conference and 25th in the nation in hitting percentage (.228) and fifth in the FC in assists (11.63/set).
  • Kinnidi Willmore paces the team in kills (3.0/set). She ranks fourth in the league in the category.
  • Abby Clark is hitting a team best .320 clip.
  • Rhys Layton his handing out a team-best 5.9 assists per game, good enough for fourth in the Frontier.
  • Emmy Green leads the Orediggers in digs (4.39/set).
  • Green and Austin Long share the team-lead service aces with 29 each.
  • Four Orediggers are in the top five in the conference in aces, Emmy Green (first), Austin Long (second), Rhys Layton (third), and Ellie Reinertson (fifth).
 SERIES HISTORY 
The Bulldogs are 40-80 all-time against the Orediggers. The last matchup between the two sides saw UMW fall 3-0 in Butte, Mont.
 
 LOOKING AHEAD 
Following Wednesday's match, the Bulldogs return to Straugh Gymnasium for the final two of a five game home stand. They will face off against Mayville State (10/10) and Valley City State (10/11).
