UMW Volleyball Splits Day Two of Palm Beach Juniors Classic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Montana Western Volleyball (1-3) went 1-1 on day two of the Palm Beach Juniors Classic, defeating Saint Francis 3-0 in match three before being upended 0-3 by Keiser in the final match.
 
MATCH SUMMARY
Saint Francis
UMW got its first win of 2025 after a 3-0 victory over Saint Francis. The Bulldogs led by as many as 13 and never let up they took the first set 25-16. The second frame began in a similar fashion, with UMW winning the first seven points. The Cougars clawed their way back within one point on several occasions, but the Bulldogs earned the 25-21 win. The final set was much tighter between the two, with Saint Francis briefly taking the lead late at 23-22. Montana Western persevered, however, and completed the sweep 26-24.
 
Keiser
The Bulldogs led 9-4 early in the first set against Keiser, but a 10-1 rally from the Seahawks put them ahead. UMW got back within one, but never regained the lead and the opener went to Keiser, 25-22. Another big run by the Seahawks cost the team again in set two, and the hosts took a 2-0 lead. In the final frame, Montana Western again struggled offensively, and Keiser earned the sweep 25-16.

Montana Western earned the statistical advantage in kills (33-29), blocks (10-4), assists (30-27), and digs (36-33) against Saint Francis, but lost the battle in aces (3-8).
Against the Seahawks, the Bulldogs again led in blocks (7-1), but were outdone in kills (27-35), aces (4-6), assists (26-32), and digs (51-52)
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Bulldogs compete again Aug. 29-30 when they take part in the Hells Canyon Grand Invitational. They will face off against Walla Walla (8/29), Arizona Christian (8/30), and tournament host LC State (8/30).
