Montana Western Volleyball Faces Off Against (RV) Dakota State and #5 Bellevue

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (6-6, 4-1 FC) competes at (RV) Dakota State (7-3, 3-2 FC) and #5 Bellevue (8-2, 4-1 FC) Friday and Saturday.

 LAST TIME OUT 
The Bulldogs had a successful home weekend, earning sweeps over both Dickinson State (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) and Bismarck State (25-17, 25-17, 25-21).
 
Against Dickinson State, Kennedy Lingenfelter tallied a game-high eight kills while Dani Brown, Maxine Hoagland, Antonia Duncan, and Jordan Olson each had six. Hoagland hit an error-free .462 to lead all players. Megan Hardman paced UMW in assists with 17. Lingenfelter also topped the team with a season-high 8.0 total blocks. Taylor Ketchum registered 25 digs to lead the Bulldogs.
 
In the match against Bismarck State, Hoagland, Olson, and Jaiden Perez shared the team-lead with eight kills each. Hoagland once again led the team in hitting percentage at .583. Hardman earned a double-double with a team-high 18 assists and 13 digs. Perez led the defensive efforts at the net with 5.0 total blocks while Ketchum covered the back row with 18 digs.
 
 BULLDOG BEAT 
Montana Western has tallied 471 kills, 442 assists, 657 digs, 92.0 blocks, and 63 aces service aces on the year. The team's best tally in kills (60), assists (59), and service aces (13), came in its five-set victory over Arizona Christian (8/30). UMW earned season highs in digs (83) and blocks (13.0) in its 3-1 win at Valley City State (9/5). They recorded a season-best hitting percentage of .298 against Bismarck State (9/13).
 
Jordan Olson ranks first on the team in kills (106), kills per set (2.65) and total attacks (289). Kennedy Lingenfelter (82) and Dani Brown (62) sit second and third in kills, respectively. Brown paces the team in hitting percentage (.262) followed by Lingenfelter (.259). Megan Hardman runs the court with 141 assists (4.55 assists/set) with Taylor Petersen in second at 118 (4.72 assists/set). Hardman and Taylor Ketchum have both landed a team-best eight services aces.
 
Defensively, Ketchum has registered a team-high 153 digs, followed by Savana Warburton (93). Ketchum also leads the Bulldogs in digs per set (3.83). Jaiden Perez has tallied 43.0 blocks to lead the team, with Lingenfelter (42.0) Olson (37.0) sitting second and third.
 
 TO THE MAX! 
Maxine Hoagland hit a career-best .583 clip against Bismarck State. She is now tied for fifth-highest hitting percentage in a single game in the league.
 
 FIREPOWER 
Three other Bulldogs hit over .380 against the Mystics; Jaiden Perez (.412), Dani Brown (.400), and Kennedy Lingenfelter (.385).
 
 SEEING DOUBLE-DOUBLE 
Megan Hardman has recorded two double doubles in her last three matches. At Montana Tech, she earned 12 assists and 10 digs and against Bismarck State she tallied 18 assists and 13 digs. She was one dig shy of going 3/3 last week, posting a 17-assists, nine-dig performance against Dickinson State.
 
 WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY 
Three Bulldogs are ranked in the top 10 in the Frontier Conference in blocks per set. Jaiden Perez sits fourth (1.10), Kennedy Lingenfelter is fifth (1.08), and Jordan Olson ranks 10th (0.93).
 
 ACCESS DENIED 
UMW ranks second in the league and tied for 13th nationally in blocks per set with 2.3 (92.0 total blocks)
 
 FEELIN' FINE AT THE SERVICE LINE 
The Bulldogs sit fifth in the FC in service aces at 1.58 per set.
 
 THE OPPONENTS 
Dakota State (7-3, 3-2 FC)
  • The Trojans are averaging 15.0 kills, 13.4 assists, 18.4 digs, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 service aces per set.
  • As a team, they rank first in the conference in both assists (14.06/set) and kills (15.72/set). They sit second in hitting percentage (.272) and third in both services aces (1.63) and digs (18.59).
  • Sophie Tuttle leads the team with 3.53 kills/set. That mark puts her first in conference in kills per set.
  • Lauryn Kloth paces Dakota State in hitting percentage at .315. She also leads the Trojans in total blocks with 23.0.
  • Maddi Langerock leads the team and ranks first in the Frontier in assists (11.26/set).
  • Kate VanRooyan tops the team in digs with 4.8 per set. She sits fourth in the league in the category.
  • The Trojans lead the nation in kills per set (15.72) while ranking eighth in assists per set (14.06), 13th in hitting percentage (.272), and 14th in digs (18.59).
 
Bellevue (8-2, 4-1 FC)
  • The Bruins are averaging 13.31 kills, 11.83 assists, 15.17 digs, 2.17 blocks, and 1.71 services aces per set.
  • The team ranks first in the FC in hitting percentage (.274). They also sit second in service aces (1.63) and third in kills (13.31).
  • Kealy Kiviniemi leads the team in kills (3.47) and hitting percentage (.386). She leads the conference in hitting percentage while ranking second in kills.
  • Mila Aiwohi runs the offense with 5.53 assists per set, good enough for fifth in the league.
  • Audrey Sandfort (3.37) and Eve Fountain (3.29) are first and second in digs. Fountain also ranks fourth in the conference in kills (3.19).
  • Savanna Berger leads the Bruins with 1.24 blocks per set. That mark puts her second in the Frontier in the category.
  • As a team, they are ranked sixth in the nation in hitting percentage (.270) and 16th in kills (13.31).
 
 SERIES HISTORY 
The Bulldogs 1-0 all-time against the Trojans, with their only matchup coming in 2019 and resulting in a 3-2 victory for UMW.
 
Montana Western is 1-1 all-time against Bellevue. The most recent matchup between the two sides was in 2022 and saw the Bruins take the 3-0 win.
 
 LOOKING AHEAD 
Following the weekend, the Bulldogs continue their away stand with matches at Rocky Mountain (9/25) and Carroll College (9/26).
