MADISON. S.D. – The Montana Western volleyball team (6-7, 4-2 FC) fell to (RV) Dakota State (8-3, 4-2 FC) Friday evening in Madison, S.D.
MATCH SUMMARY
The hosts came out firing in set one, going on a 9-2 run to take the lead early. They kept up the pressure and took the first 25-12. The Bulldogs fought hard in the second frame, keeping it close throughout the set, but the Trojans pulled away at the end, taking the 25-21 win to go up 2-0. In the third, Dakota State again opened up a seven-point lead early on, and despite a valiant effort from Western, DSU completed the sweep with a 25-17 set win.
LEADERBOARD
· Dani Brown led UMW with six kills while Jordan Olson and Kennedy Lingenfelter each tallied four.
· Megan Hardman paced the team in both assists (10) and aces (three).
· Taylor Ketchum recorded a team-best nine digs.
· Jaiden Perez earned a game-high five blocks.

Montana Western won the blocks battle 7-2, but were outperformed in kills (23-44), aces (3-7), assists (20-40), and digs (30-44)

The Bulldogs are back on the court tomorrow when they face off against #5 Bellevue. First serve is set for 12 p.m. MT/ 1 p.m. CT.
