Montana Western Women’s Rodeo Wins Team Title at Miles CC #1

MILES CITY, Mont. – The Montana Western women's rodeo team earned the win and the men's team placed second at the first of two rodeos hosted by Miles CC this weekend.

Jeremy Kay and Tavy Leno took home the men's and women's all-around honors as well to highlight a stellar outing by the Bulldogs.

"We're super excited about the women's team victory," head coach JT Robbins said. "They've put themselves back in contention for the CFR. Very happy with what we did as a team overall."

UMW won two events in the short go as well as three events in the average.

Tynell McInenly finished first in the breakaway roping while Cooper Pavkov and Jake Deveraux got it done in the team roping during the short go.

McInenly also took home the average crown in breakaway while Cardell Laughery placed first in the average saddle bronc and Gavin Knutson won the average in the bull riding.

LONG GO RESULTS
Bareback Riding
Kay registered a 60 in his first ride on the bareback, placing second in the long go.

Tie-Down Roping
Racin Allen finished second in the opening round of the tie-down with a 10.9-second run.

Breakaway Roping.
Leno (2.5s) tied for second while McInenly (2.6s) and Kelsi Costello (2.6s) tied for third in the breakaway.

Saddle Bronc
Laughery earned a 72 in his first ride, putting him second in the saddle bronc. Chase Martin (59) and Randon Boyce (53) took fifth and sixth, respectively.

Steer Wrestling
Tatum Hansen's 7.5-second run in the steer wrestling landed him in fifth after the long go.

Goat Tying
Leno (6.6) and McInenly (6.9) finished in third and sixth in the goat tying

Barrel Racing
Kaylee Kesl posted a 14.18-second run in the barrels for a fifth-place showing in the opening round.

Team Roping
Knutson and Luke Garrison took second with an 8.1-second effort in the team roping. McInenly and Zane Akune (MTSUN) placed fifth in the same event.

Bull Riding
Three Bulldogs put up clean rides in the long go bull riding. Kay placed first with a 76 followed by Knutson with a 66 and Western Wade with a 53.

SHORT GO RESULTS
Bareback Riding
Kay also finished second in the short go bareback with a 58 in the round.

Breakaway Roping
Western had four riders in the top six in the championship round of the breakaway. Tynell McInenly led the field with a 2.3-second run. Taylor Burgee (2.4, second), Kelsi Costello (2.8, third), and Tavy Leno (11.9, sixth) round out the group.

Saddle Bronc
Cade Costello posted a 66 to finish second in the short go saddle bronc, followed closely by Laughery (65, third), Boyce (62, fourth), and Martin (53, sixth).

Goat Tying
Charlee Resch tied for second with a 6.6-second effort in the goat tying while Tavy Leno placed fourth with a 6.7.

Barrel Racing
Kaylee Kesl finished third in the short go barrels, posting a 14.05 in the round. Brylan Garrett placed fifth with a 14.17.

Team Roping
Pavkov and Deveraux registered an 11.3-second ride in the team roping to take the win in the short go. Leno and Clay Pendergrass finished third with a 14.6.

Bull Riding
Knutson earned a 61 in the second round of bull riding, placing third.

AVERAGE
Bareback Riding
Kay tallied an aggregate score of 118 to finish second in the bareback and earn 50 points for UMW.

Breakaway Roping
McInenly brought home the average win in the breakaway with a combined time of 4.9 seconds. Burgee (5.2), Kelsi Costello (5.4) and Leno (14.4) placed second, third, and sixth, respectively. The group earned 155 total points for the Bulldogs.

Saddle Bronc
Laughery's average score of 137 put him first in the saddle bronc for 60 points. Boyce posted a 115 overall to finish fourth (30 points) and Martin earned a 112 to place fifth (20 points).

Goat Tying
Leno registered a 13.3 in the average to place second in the goat riding, earning 50 points, while Resch took fifth with a 13.7 for 15 points.

Barrel Racing
Kesl's two-round time of 28.23 landed her in third in the average barrels. Garrett posted a 28.55 aggregate time to place fifth. The pair combined for 60 points.

Team Roping
Leno and Pendergrass earned second in the overall team roping, taking home 50 points with a 28.1 average time. Pavkov and Deveraux (28.2, 40 points) and Knutson and Garrison (8.1 (one clean run), 10 points) finished third and sixth, respectively.

Bull Riding
Knutson took home the average title in the bull riding with a 127 overall score, earning 60 points for UMW.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Bulldogs are back in the arena Saturday and Sunday for MCC #2.
