Crossley’s Record-Breaking Performance Wins Men’s 10k as Bulldogs Wrap Up Season at Frontier Outdoor Championships

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Montana Western men's and women's track and field programs closed the season at the Frontier Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday. The men's team placed ninth while the women's team took 10th.

The meet highlight came from Luke Crossley, who won the men's 10,000m. He set a meet and school record while bettering his own personal best in the event.

"We had some strong performances at conference," head coach Taylor Grove said. "It was great to start off with Luke winning the men's 10k. We definitely had a few things not quite go as hoped, but the kids came back and continued to compete hard. We had quite a few athletes score points for us across several events and finished strong as a team."

Elsewhere on the track, Olivia Heiner placed sixth in the women's 5000m (19:18.56) and ninth in the women's 10,000m (42:13.38, season best).

Justene Santi took sixth in the women's 3000m steeple chase with a 12:23.91 and finished 11th in the women's 400H with a 1:17.55.

Tyler Raine finished seventh in the men's 400H with a 58.03. He also placed 21st in the men's 400m with a 52.80.

Brody Henry was the top UMW finisher in the men's 800m, taking 12th with a 1:59.45. Tristan Von Bargen placed 22nd with a season-best 2:07.23 while Bridger Wheeler finished 27th with a 2:16.14.

Kylee Wyatt placed 21st in the women's 1500m, posting a 7:18.71.

In the men's 5000m, Cael Thilmony finished 20th with a 17:24.39, followed by Noah Rovente (17:27.35, 21st), Kreg Butler (19:12.20, 23rd), and Mason Lynch (19:28.42, 24th).

The men's 4x800m relay team (Henry, Von Bargen, Wheeler, Crossley) placed sixth with an 8:34.01 while the men's 4x400m (Von Bargen, Henry, Wheeler, Butler) finished eighth with a 3:46.10.

In the field events, Layne Cooney posted a sixth-place finish in the men's discus with a 42.98m (141-00) toss. Justin Maier finished 19th in the event with a 33.73m (110-08).

Stanley Stremick registered a 6.47m (41-02.75) leap in the men's long jump to take 10th. He also placed 16th in the men's high jump with a 1.76m (5-09.25).

In the women's discus, Cassie Green was the top Bulldog finisher, placing 13th with a personal best 34.21m (112-03) toss. Braden Kopp (31.23m, 102-05) took 18th, Kendalyn Streck (30.50m, 100-00) earned a personal best and 20th-place finish, Ellie Stutsman (26.27m, 86-02) placed 24th, Brielle Davis (24.51m, 80-05) finished 25th, and Sarah Clark (23.43m, 76-10) took 26th.

Davis and Clark also competed in the women's javelin. Davis placed 14th with a 31.48m (103-03) while Clark posted a 31.13m (102-01) to finish 15th.

Green placed 14th in the women's shot put with a 10.92m (35-10.00) while Streck finished 19th (10.35m, 33-11.50), Stutsman took 22nd (9.54m, 31-03.75), and Kopp placed 23rd (9.14m, 30-00.00).

Cooney (13.61m, 44-08.00) finished 14th and Maier (11.86m, 38-11.00) placed 19th in the men's shot put.
