Montana Western Track and Field Adds Stevie Ruelas as Assistant Coach

DILLON, Mont. –  The Montana Western track and field team brought on Stevie Ruelas as an assistant coach, head coach Taylor Grove announced Tuesday.

"I am excited to have Stevie joining our coaching staff," Grove said. "He brings good experience having coached at a top-level program in the NAIA. I think he will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our sprints, jumps, and hurdles group and help raise the bar for the athletes on our team."

Ruelas comes to Western after serving as a graduate assistant for the Dickinson State track and field team. In his time at DSU he oversaw the sprint and hurdle athletes and assisted with jumps.

The Tuscon, Ariz., native helped lead the Blue Hawks women's team to a NAIA National Runner-Up finish in 2026 and aided the men's team to its first conference title in eight years.

He also coached the three-time women's high jump national champion as well as 11 conference champions in his tenure with Dickinson State.

Ruelas earned his undergrad and graduate degrees from DSU. He graduated with a bachelor's in exercise science and a master's in sports administration.
