Montana Western Men’s Basketball Releases 2026 Schedule

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western men's basketball team will play 28 regular season contests as part of the 2026-27 slate, head coach JC Isakson announced Tuesday.

The Isakson era kicks off with an exhibition at NCAA DI and Big Sky Conference member Idaho State Oct. 23.

The Bulldogs will play 13 home games in Straugh Gymnasium. The home slate begins Oct. 30-31 when they host the Western Classic. UMW will face off against Park Gilbert (10/30) and College of Idaho (10/31).

Frontier play also begins at home with three straight contests against rival Montana Tech (11/27), Mayville State (12/4), and Valley City State (12/5).

The rest of the Bulldogs' home schedule is as follows: Bismarck State (1/8), Dickinson State (1/9), Rocky Mountain (1/22), Carroll (1/23), Providence (1/29), MSU-Northern (1/30), Dakota State (2/12), and Bellevue (2/13).

The Red and Black will compete on the road 14 times in the 2026-27 regular season. Following the Western Classic at home, the Bulldogs travel to the Best Western Tipoff Classic in Butte, where they will take on LC State (11/6) and Westcliffe (11/7).

Then they head to Lewiston, Idaho for the LC State Classic, with matchups set against Eastern Oregon (11/19) and the tournament-host Warriors (11/20).

The first conference road contest is set for Dec. 12 against Montana Tech, followed by MSU-Northern (12/18), Providence (12/19), Carroll (12/31), Rocky Mountain (1/2), Bellevue (1/14), Dakota State (1/16), Valley City State (2/5), Mayville State (2/6), Dickinson State (2/19), and Bismarck State (2/20).

The Frontier Conference men's basketball tournament takes place Feb. 26-Mar. 1 in Butte.

The FC regular season champion will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament. The winner of the conference tournament will also receive a bid. In the event the regular season champion is the tournament champion, then the second berth will be awarded to the Regular Season Runner Up.
