Bulldog Volleyball Sweeps Skylights 3-0 Friday

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (5-10, 4-4 FC) delivered a decisive three-set victory over MSU-Northern (7-7, 3-5 FC) Friday night in Straugh Gymnasium.
 
The Skylights were held under 20 points in all three sets.
 
 NOTABLES 
Western held MSU-Northern to a .038 hitting percentage, the lowest mark by an opponent this season.
 
Three Bulldogs hit over .250
 
Savana Warburton earned a double-double with 13 kills and a career-high matching 24 digs.
 
Kennedy Lingenfelter recorded at least 5.0 blocks for the third time in the last five matches.
 
Olivia Rosborough put up a season-high 5.0 blocks.
 
Madisyn Frazier recorded over 20 digs for the third time on the campaign.
 
Jaiden Perez earned a season-best hitting percentage.

 LEADERBOARD 
  • Warburton paced all players with 13 kills, followed by Averi Look with 10.
  • Warburton also topped the team in digs with 24 with Frazier close behind at 21.
  • Perez hit a scorching .643 (9-14) with no errors.
  • Jayda Ward (19) and Sophie Worden (18) combined for 37 kills.
  • Frazier also landed one ace in the match.
  • Lingenfelter earned a game-high 6.0 blocks while Rosborough tallied 5.0.
 
 MATCH SUMMARY 
The Bulldogs were a force from the get go. After MSU-Northern tied the match at five, Western went on a 15-2 run to pull ahead 20-7 in the opening frame. The visitors found their footing again near the end of the set, but couldn't close the gap and UMW took set one 25-14 to go up 1-0.
 
The Red and Black went up early again in the second period, and though the Skylights got within three on two occasions, the Bulldogs never relinquished the lead and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 set two score.
 
The final set was more back-and-forth, with MSUN leading 13-12 midway through the frame. Western took over after that, outscoring the visitors  13-5 down the stretch to seal the 3-0 victory 25-18.
 
 MSU-NORTHERN 
Josie Hasler led the Skylights with seven kills, followed by Macy Uffelman (six). Hasler also led the team with a .167 hitting percentage. Addison Falls Down led the team with 12 assists. Adisyn Olson landed the lone ace of the game for MSU-Northern. Uffelman and Kendall Scheffelmear each recorded 1.0 block. Kambria Maloy paced the team in digs with 17.
 
 SPLIT BOX 
The Bulldogs bested the Skylights in nearly every statistical category, holding the edge in points (59.0-27.0), kills (49-24), blocks (9-2), assists (43-22), and digs (74-62). The two sides were even on service aces with one each.  

 ON THE HORIZON 
The Bulldogs take to the court again tomorrow when they host #8 Providence at 2 p.m. MT.
