DILLON, Mont.—The Montana Western Bulldogs (14-10, 3-6) pulled off an overtime win against the Lights of MSU-Northern (16-8, 4-5), 85-78.
The Bulldogs shot very well in the first half—56 percent from the field (15-27) and 40 percent from the 3-point line (4-10). The Lights nearly matched the Bulldogs from the field, shooting 52 percent, but were just 29 percent from the arc (2-7). Montana Western led MSU-Northern 41-35 at the half.
In the second, the Lights went five of 13 from the arc, while the Bulldogs only drained three. Montana Western struggled to stay ahead of the Lights. The Lights led the Bulldogs with one minute left in regulation, 69-66.
Jamal Stephenson responded with a 3-pointer to tie the score 69-69 with 54 seconds left. The Bulldogs held off the Lights for the remainder of regulation.
The Bulldogs were the first to score in the five-minute overtime with two made free throws. MSU-Northern made a jump shot to tie the score 71-71.
Jamal Stephenson responded with a 3-pointer. The Lights grabbed another two points on a jump shot, but Stephenson drained another shot from the arc to secure a four-point lead with 51 seconds left. The Bulldogs scored another eight points on free throws and the Lights tallied another five.

Mike Larsen said. "This was 100 percent a program win."
