Bulldog Track Competes Well at Peace Meet

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Bulldog track team competed at the Whitworth Peace Invite this past weekend. With a field of more than 500 student-athletes, the team competed against athletes from Washington State, Idaho and Eastern Washington, among others. 

Eireann O'Connor opened her outdoor season with a 4:49.81 PR in the 1500m. Liz Varner led the way in the 5000m placing sixth with a time of 19:35.45, she was followed closely by Morgan (20:09.16) and Mason Baseley (20:15.49). Other lady Bulldogs who competed were Araceli Ramirez in the 1500m with a time of 5:33.82 and Capree Daniels in the 800m with a time of 2:36.59. 

On the men's side, Jonathan Harrison raced to a fourth place finish in the 800m and a new PR of 1:54.93. Joe Lamb ran a strong 1500m with a time of 4:15.59, Isaiah Powell doubled up and raced in the 400m (59.91) and 200m (24.68), and Jesse McMurtrey opened his outdoor season in the 5000m with a time of 17:21.69. 

"The conditions were not great for fast times," said head coach Dylan Zitzer. "I thought we were very competitive and focused. It was great to see the times we put up and I can't wait to get back to Whitworth to improve our results from this week," added Zitzer. 

The Bulldogs will be right back in Spokane at the Whitworth Twilight this coming weekend.
