This Week in Bulldog Athletics

DILLON, Mont. – The upcoming week in Bulldog athletics proves to be an exciting one as UMW basketball will feature four home games with both Rocky Mountain College and Montana Tech traveling to play in the Straugh Gymnasium.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL
The UMW Men's Basketball team is coming off of a big road win over the MSU-Northern Lights in Havre, Mont. this past weekend. They will now host three straight home Frontier Conference contests, two of which are this week. They will begin with the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears who is currently 10-6 on the season. They enter the contest following a 78-52 loss to the No. 24 ranked Carroll College. The Battlin' Bears are led in scoring by Kael Robinson who is averaging 11.9 points per game.

Following the Thursday night matchup, the Bulldogs will face rival Montana Tech on Saturday at 4pm. The last time the two teams faced, the Bulldog handed the No. 13 ranked Orediggers their second loss of the season in a close 67-64 battle. Since that game, the Orediggers have stretched their overall record to 15-2 behind a six-game win streak. The Orediggers are led in scoring by Caleb Bellach who is averaging 17.1 points per game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The UMW Women's Basketball team has continued to shine as they recently grabbed their tenth straight win in Havre, Mont. The No. 18 ranked Bulldogs will now host three straight home Frontier Conference contests, two of which are scheduled for this week. They will first see the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears on Thursday, followed by Montana Tech on Saturday. Rocky Mountain is currently receiving votes nationally and is 12-4 on the season. They enter the contest following a 58-51 victory over the No. 11 ranked Carroll College. The Battlin' Bears are led in scoring by Kloie Thatcher who is averaging 11.4 points per game.

Following the Thursday game, the Bulldogs will turn around and host Montana Tech for the second time this season. That last time the two teams faced, the Bulldogs pulled out a win in a close contest with a final score of 73-67. The Orediggers are currently led in scoring by Tavia Rooney who is averaging 13.1 points per game.
