Bulldogs Compete At Montana Open For Last Tune Up Before Conference Championships

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana Western Track and Field team made their way out to Missoula where they competed at the Montana Open this afternoon. This was the last tune up before the Frontier Conference Championships next week.

"Solid day overall and we are excited to tune up for the conference meet next week. Luke and Araceli both ran really well. Awesome to see seniors show some real improvement!" Head Coach Dylan Zitzer commented. 

Results

On the Men's side, Isaiah Powell competed in two events for the Bulldogs. Powell ran in the Men's 400m race, placing 11th with a time of 53.30. He also competed in the Men's 200m and placed 16th with a time of 24.88.

Two Bulldogs ran in the Men's 1500m race with Joe Lamb finishing in 6th after running the race in a time of 4:19.32. Carlin Onstad finished up just behind after he placed 8th with a time of 4:37.75.

Luke Lutz was the top finisher for the Bulldogs in the Men's 5000m race. He finished the race in 8th with a time of 15:35.15. Harrison Silverio came in 11th after he ran it in 16:09.21 and Brant Heiner finished in 13th with a time of 16:18.04.

On the Women's side, Taya Brewer recorded a personal record after she placed 4th in the Women's 5000m with a time of 18:48.66. Morgan Baseley finished just behind recording a personal record of her own in the outdoor 5000m run with a time of 19:14.38. Liz Varner rounded out the race with a 9th place finish after putting a time of 19:41.85 in the race.

Cecily Eagleton finished the Women's 3000m Steeple in 7th place with a time of 13:10.37.

Three Bulldog women competed in the Women's 1500m run. Araceli Ramirez was the first finisher with a 9th place finish and a time of 5:03.39. Mason Baseley followed with an 11th place finish and a time of 5:10.87. Tahja Hunt rounded out the Bulldogs in the race with a 17th place finish and a time of 5:54.18.

Ramirez and Mason Baseley also competed in the Women's 800m run. Ramirez placed 11th with a time of 2:28.04 and Baseley finished in 17th with a time of 2:34.55.

Up Next

The Bulldogs will now be heading to Billings, Mont. to compete in the Frontier Conference Championships hosted by Rocky Mountain College. The meet will be held at Lockwood High School Friday April 28 through Saturday April 29.
