UMW Volleyball Earns 3-1 Victory Over MSU-Northern Friday

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (8-9, 6-4 FC) defeated MSU-Northern (8-8, 6-4 FC) 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-11) Friday night in Straugh Gymnasium.

"Tonight was a great all-around team win," Head Coach Katie Lovett. "It was also great to be back in our home gym."

NOTABLES
Jordan Olson hit over .400 for the third time this season, posting a .417 (12-24) clip.

UMW was one block shy of tying its season best in blocks with 12.

Western tied its season best with 83 digs against the Skylights.

MATCH SUMMARY
The opening set saw the Bulldogs lead by as many 14, but the Skylights clawed their way back within six before UMW took the 25-18 win. The visitors came back to even things up in set two, winning 25-21. The third frame was back and forth between the two sides through the middle of the set, but Western dug deep and earned the 25-20 win to go up 2-1. The Red and Black sealed the victory with a commanding 25-11 set four.

LEADERBOARD

Jordan Olson led the game with 12 kills while Kennedy Lingenfelter was also in double figures for the Bulldogs at 11.
Megan Hardman earned a season-high tying 27 assists to lead all players.
Taylor Ketchum recorded a game-high 22 digs.
Lingenfelter registered a game-best 7.0 blocks.
Sophie Worden, Taylor Ketchum, and Morgyn Harrison all landed one service ace.

SPLIT BOX
Montana Western held the statistical advantage in every major category, including kills (53-40), digs (83-79), assists (83-79), blocks (12-6), and aces (3-2).

The Bulldogs take the court again tomorrow when they host #3 Providence. First serve is set for 2 p.m. MT.
