Bulldog Volleyball Drops Two on Day One of Palm Beach Juniors Classic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Montana Western Volleyball (0-2) came up short against both IU East (2-0) and Taylor (2-0) in its first two matches of the Palm Beach Juniors Classic Friday morning. The Bulldogs fell 3-0 in both contests.

MATCH SUMMARY
IU East
In its opening match of the tournament, UMW went toe-to-toe with IU East in three sets. After the Red Wolves jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first, the Bulldogs stormed back to knot things at eight. From there, the two sides traded points, eventually sending the set into extras. After ties at 24, 25, 26, and 27, IU East was able to pull off the 29-27 win to go up 1-0. Set two seemed destined to continue in the same manner, but the Red Wolves closed strong to claim it 25-20. The third set saw the Bulldogs fall behind by many as nine as IU East won 25-16 to earn the sweep.

Taylor
Against Taylor, Montana Western struggled to find its footing, allowing the Trojans to open up a nine-point lead midway through the set. Though they battled back to within three, the Bulldogs couldn't quite close the gap and went down 1-0. The second frame was a back-and-forth affair to start. However, after tying the game with 11 points apiece, Taylor managed to pull away for good, taking set two 25-20. In the final set, UMW led 10-8 before an 8-1 Taylor run suffocated the Bulldog offense, sealing the sweep with a 25-17 win.
