Frontier Conference Basketball Postseason Tournament: What You Need to Know
 
DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western men's and women's basketball programs have both punched their tickets to the postseason and will head to Butte, Mont., next weekend to compete in the Frontier Conference Basketball Tournaments. The event will take place at Butte Civic Center (1340 Harrison Ave.) from Feb. 27-March 2. The top eight teams in the Frontier Conference standings advance to the postseason tournament. 

The Western men's basketball team will be the four-seed and face off against five-seed and tournament host Montana Tech on Saturday. The Bulldogs and Orediggers were tied for fourth in the regular season standings (both 15-7 in league play) but UMW owns the tiebreaker after splitting the season series with Bellevue 1-1 while Montana Tech went 0-2 against the Bruins. 

The UMW women's team will compete as the six seed and take on three-seed Carroll Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs and Providence were tied for sixth (both 11-11 in conference), but Western clinched the six-seed over the Argos after sweeping the regular season series. 
 
The four-day conference tournament begins with the quarterfinals on Feb. 27 with the top two seeds facing the lowest two seeds in both the men's and women's tournaments) and Feb. 28 with seeds No. 3 through No. 6), followed by the semifinals on March 1 and the championship games on March 2.

The championship games will be featured live on SWX Local Sports Montana channel.

The Frontier Conference Basketball Postseason Tournament winners will receive the second automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament First and Second Rounds on March 13-14 at campus sites announced by the NAIA national office.
 
The Frontier Conference regular season champions (Rocky Mountain men and Dakota State women) receive the first automatic bids to the national tournament.
