The second frame was again evenly matched; however, the Blue Hawks took the lead 19-18 and would go on to win the set 25-21 for a 2-0 lead.

Western battled hard in the third, leading for almost the entire set. They didn't give up the lead after going up 13-12 and pulled one back with a 25-20 win.

UMW went on a 10-4 run to start the fourth, but DSU fought back within one point midway through the period. The Red and Black pulled away again and knotted the match at two sets apiece, 25-21.

The Bulldogs had their backs against the wall in the fifth down 8-2 early in the set. A well-taken timeout from Lovett allowed the comeback to begin. A 9-4 run helped seal the come-from-behind victory for Western, with the Blue Hawks committing four straight errors to end the match.
