UMW Volleyball Falls to Bismarck State in Four Sets Saturday

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (4-8, 3-2 FC) dropped a hard-fought match to Bismarck State (3-7, 1-4 FC) Saturday morning in Straugh Gymnasium

NOTABLES
Kennedy Lingenfelter hit over .300 for the fourth time in five games.

Jayda Ward earned her fourth double-double of the season.

The Bulldogs tallied at least 5.0 blocks for the 10th time

LEADERBOARD

Averi Look earned a team-high 14 kills.
Kennedy Lingenfelter hit a game-high .348 clip and tied for the game-high with 4.0 blocks.
Jayda Ward (25) and Sophie Worden (12) combined for 37 assists.
Taylor Ketchum registered a game-high three aces.
Madisyn Frazier tallied a team-best 18 digs.

MATCH SUMMARY
The Mystics struck first with a 26-24 extra point win in set 1. The Bulldogs tied the match with a commanding 25-18 win in the second frame with the help of a 6-2 run to end the set. Bismarck State's defense took control at the end of set three to once again give the Mystics the advantage. The fourth set was back-and-forth, but BSC managed to seal the win, 25-22.

SPLIT BOX
Western held the statistical advantage in points (61.0-55.0), kills (50-45), aces (6-1), assists (49-38), and digs (77-69), but were outdone in blocks (5-9).

BISMARCK STATE
Reese Duchsherer led all players in kills with 16 and hit a team-best .250. Aislyn Hogan tallied a game-high 31 assists. Piper Harris landed one ace for the Mystics and recorded a game-best 22 digs. Ellie Baumstarck and Jordyn Rood both tallied 4.0 blocks.

ON THE HORIZON
The Bulldogs head back on the road next week when they face off at Dakota State (9/18) and Bellevue (9/19).
