UMW Volleyball Falls to #16 Bellevue 3-0 Saturday

BELLEVUE, Neb. – The Montana Western volleyball team (4-10, 3-4 FC) fell to #16 Bellevue 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
 
NOTABLES
Look posted double-digit kills for the third-straight match and hit over .400 for the second match in a row.
 
Jaiden Perez tallied at least 4.0 blocks for the fifth game this season.
 
Four Bulldogs hit over .250.
 
LEADERBOARD
  • Averi Look registered a game-high 13 kills while also leading Western with a .458 hitting percentage.
  • Sophie Worden paced all players with 24 assists.
  • Madisyn Frazier and Jayda Ward each landed one ace for UMW.
  • Frazier also recorded a game-best 14 digs.
  • Jaiden Perez put up a game-high 4.0 total blocks.
 
MATCH SUMMARY
The opening set featured multi-point runs from both sides, with the Bulldogs utilizing an 8-1 run in the middle of the set to take a 17-13 lead. The #16 Bruins clawed their way back into it and scored the final six points to go ahead 1-0 with the 25-22 set win. Bellevue jumped out to a big lead in the second frame and held on for the 25-18 set win and a 2-0 lead. The final period was a back-and-forth affair. The Bulldogs made a stand when down 19-23 to tie things up and force extra points, but BU managed to snag the set 26-24 and win the match 3-0.
 
SPLIT BOX
The Bulldogs held the advantage in kills (45-39), assists (43-39), and digs (54-50) while the Bruins outearned UMW in points (54.0-51.0) blocks (5-4) and aces (10-2).
 
BELLEVUE
A'Lailah Perry led the Bruins in both kills (nine) and hitting percentage (.500). Ella Eymann recorded a team-high 19 assists, followed by Victoria Runyan with 12. Four Bellevue players tallied two aces apiece. Chloe Cloud led the team with 3.0 blocks while Zoie Roghair registered a team-best 12 digs.
 
ON THE HORIZON
The Bulldogs return to Straugh Gymnasium next weekend when they welcome MSU-Northern (9/25) and Providence (9/26).
