MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana Western track & field team continued with their outdoor season after they competed at the Al Manuel Invite hosted by the University of Montana.
Results
Malia Cox competed in numerous events. Her top placing came in the women's 200m race. She finished sixth after a recording a time of 29.24. She also finished in seventh in the women's 100m race with a time of 13.88, ninth in the women's long jump with a 4.45m mark and competed in the women's high jump.
Justene Santi finished in fifth in the women's 3000m steeple with a 13:24.66 and sixth in the women's 400m with a 1:12.12.
Olivia Heiner and
Maddie Yakos rounded out the Bulldog women competing in the meet with a seventh and ninth place finish respectively. Heiner recorded a time of 20:44.11 and Yakos finished with a time of 20:51.39.
On the men's side,
Layne Cooney pulled a fifth-place finish in the men's discus throw. He recorded a 43.43m mark in the meet.
Carson Bain and
Tad Tackes also competed in the discus throw. Bain finished eighth with a mark of 36.66m. The same three Bulldog throwers also competed in the men's shot put, with Cooney finishing 12th with a mark of 12.44m and Bain finishing in 13th with a mark of 10.93m.
The lone Bulldog in the men's 1500m race was
Kaden Hennessey who finished in 11th with a time of 4:51.42.
Brant Heiner and
Carlin Onstad each raced in the men's 5000m. Heiner finished in eighth with a 17:00.54 and Onstad followed in ninth with an 18:06.66.
Up Next
Western will now prepare for the MSU Billings Meet on March 28 that will be held at Lockwood High School in Lockwood, Mont.
