BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana Western track & field team traveled out to compete for the second time this season at Lockwood High School for the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open.
The meet was highlighted by four personal records in various events.
Results
Layne Cooney took home a second-place finish in the men's discus throw after he threw a mark of 44.03m for a personal record in the meet. Cooney also finished in 14th in the men's shot put with a mark of 11.87m.
In the women's 400m, both
Malia Cox and
Justene Santi had impressive performances after each recording their own personal records in the event. Cox finished in eighth with a time of 1:08.45 and Santi finished ninth with a 1:11.55. Santi also competed in the women's 1500m, placing 13th after running a 5:38.71.
Olivia Heiner's new personal record in the women's 800m was enough to place her in ninth with a time of 2:30.41. She also finished the women's 1500m race in sixth with a time of 5:15.88.
In a day full of personal records,
Brant Heiner had his own season best in the men's 5000m race after he recorded a ninth-place finish and a time of 16:08.46.
Three Bulldogs recorded marks in the men's 800m race.
Drake Delude finished in the tough field in fifth place with a time of 2:03.97.
Landon Hayes finished ninth with his own time of 2:13.03 and
Kaden Hennessey rounded out the Bulldogs in the race with a 12th place finish and a time of 2:15.72.
Hayes and Hennessey also competed in the men's 1500m, finishing in ninth and 10th respectively.
Carson Bain competed in both the men's discus throw and the men's shot put. His highest finish came in the discus with a 16th place throw of 35.60m. In the shot put, he finished 17th with a mark of 10.62m.

The Bulldogs head to Spokane, Wash. next week to compete in the Whitworth Peace Meet hosted by Whitworth University at Puryear Field – Boppell Track at Whitworth Pine Bowl. The event will run on Friday, April 5.
