Western Volleyball Faces Off Against #2 Providence in 2025 Frontier Conference Quarterfinal

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (13-16, 11-11 FC) heads to Helena, Mont. Thursday to compete in the 2025 Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament. The eight-seed Bulldogs will face off against FC regular-season champ and NAIA #2 Providence (28-2, 21-1) in the opening round.

 LAST TIME OUT 
UMW fell to both MSU-Northern (25-22, 19-25, 20-25, 17-25) and Providence (18-25, 18-25, 11-25) in its final two matches of the 2025 regular season.
 
Against the Skylights, Averi Look led the team with 12 kills while Megan Hardman tallied a team-best 26 assists. Taylor Ketchum paced Western with 27 digs. Olivia Rosborough earned a team-high 3.0 blocks. Hardman and Jayda Ward each landed two service aces in the match.
 
Against the Argos, Maxine Hoagland, Antonia Duncan, and Averi Look shared the team-high with seven kills apiece. Hardman once again topped UMW with 22 assists. Ketchum registered 12 digs while Hoagland and Rosborough each earned 1.0 blocks. 
 
 BULLDOG BEAT 
Montana Western has tallied 1,296 kills (12.0 k/s), 1,214 assists (11.2 a/s), 1,861 digs (17.2 d/s), 226.5 blocks (2.1 b/s), and 145 service aces (1.4 sa/s) on the year.
 
The team's best tally in kills (77), assists (73), and blocks (16.5) came in its five-set victory against Rocky (11/1). The Bulldogs tallied a season-high 100 digs against both Carroll (10/31) and RMC (11/1). UMW's highest total in service aces is 13, which occurred in the win over Arizona Christian (8/30) and its best single-game hitting percentage was .298 against Bismarck State (9/13).
 
Kennedy Lingenfelter paces the team in kills (237, 2.24 k/s), hitting percentage (.270, minimum 100 attempts), and total blocks (99.0). Jordan Olson leads the Bulldogs in kills per set (2.54) and Jaiden Perez tops the team in blocks per set (1.15). Megan Hardman runs the court with 479 assists (5.10 assists/set) and has landed a team-best 29 services aces. Taylor Ketchum has registered a team-high 448 digs (4.39 digs/set).
 
 ACCESS DENIED 
Kennedy Lingenfelter ranks fifth in the Frontier in total blocks (99) and eighth in blocks per set (0.93)
 
 ACING THE TEST 
Western sits fifth in the conference in service aces with 145 on the year (1.3 per set). Megan Hardman paces the team at the service line with 29 aces on the year while Taylor Ketchum (21) and Jayda Ward (20) have also hit the 20-ace mark this season.
 
 WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY 
UMW sits fourth in conference in both total blocks (226.5) and blocks per set (2.1).  In the last 10 matches, the Bulldogs have recorded three double-digit blocks per match. Additionally, two more were just shy of the mark at 9. They are averaging 7.85 blocks per match in this span.
 
 DIG DEEP 
The Bulldogs have earned over 62 digs in thirteen of the last fourteen matches. Moreover, they have recorded over 50 digs in 21 of their 29 games so far this season.

Megan Hardman has dished out 20 or more assists in seven of her last 10 matches, highlighted by a 40-assist outing against Rocky Mountain (11/1).
 
 TOURNAMENT TIME 
The Bulldogs are 7-2 in the conference tournament since 2022 as opposed to 0-7 from 2015-2021.

  • In the FC, the Argos lead in points, blocks and assists per set as well, second in both hitting percentage and kills, third in digs.
  • Cabry Taylor leads the team in both hitting percentage (.319) and blocks per set (1.28). She is fifth in conference in hitting percentage, while leading in blocks. She also sits 18th in the NAIA in blocks per set and 22nd in total blocks (110).
  • Bella Green leads the Argos and is eighth in the conference in kills per set (2.97).
  • Bella Thompson paces the team while ranking first in the conference and fourth in the nation in assists per set (11.1). She also sits 20th in the country in total assists (1036).
  • Kyra Saiers leads the team, is third in the league, and 12th in the NAIA in digs per set (5.50).
  • Sadie Giles ranks second on the Argos and ninth in the conference in digs (4.05).
 SERIES HISTORY 
The Bulldogs are 22-46 all-time against the Argos. In the last matchup between the two sides, Western fell 3-0 in Great Falls in the final game of the 2025 regular season.
