Bulldogs Blank Blue Hawks 3-0 in 2025 Home Opener

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (5-6, 3-1 FC) swept Dickinson State (7-2, 3-1 FC) (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) Friday evening, marking the Blue Hawks' first loss in league play.

"I thought tonight was a great all-around team effort," Head Coach Katie Lovett said. "We played very disciplined and were able to take advantage of different opportunities. We knew Dickinson was coming off some really prominent wins and that it would not be an easy game, but the team really rallied around each other to get the win."

NOTABLES
Maxine Hoagland had herself a night, posting career highs in both hitting percentage (.462) and total blocks (5.0).

Kennedy Lingenfelter was a brick wall on defense, recording a season-best 8.0 blocks.

UMW reached double-digit blocks for the fourth time this season with 10.0.

MATCH SUMMARY
The Bulldogs were dominant from the jump, leading by more than five points for the majority of the first set. Savana Warburton helped things along with two extended serving runs and Western took the 1-0. In the second frame, UMW looked to continue in the same fashion, but Dickinson State fought its way back to within on point midway through the set. A 9-3 run put things out of reach for the visitors and Montana Western doubled its lead. The final set saw the Blue Hawks start strong, but their momentum once again fizzled out thanks to another scoring spree by the Bulldogs to complete the sweep.
