UMW Volleyball Opens League Play at Valley City State and Mayville State

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western volleyball team (2-5) kicks off the 2025 Frontier Conference slate on the road. They take on two first-time conference foes, Valley City State (9/5) and Mayville State (9/6).

 LAST TIME OUT 
The Bulldogs went 1-2 at the Hells Canyon Grand Invitational Aug. 29-30. They earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Arizona Christian, but fell to both Walla Walla (0-3) and host LC State (1-3).
 
 ALL-TOURNEY RECOGNITION 
Jordan Olson and Kennedy Lingenfelter were both named to the Hells Canyon Grand Invitational all-tournament team for their play. Olson racked up 32 kills, 11 blocks, including 17 kills in the Bulldogs win over ACU. Lingenfelter tallied 31 kills, 13 blocks, and three aces, with a game-high seven blocks coming against LC State.
 
 BULLDOG BEAT 
Montana Western has tallied 258 kills, 242 assists, 42 aces, 329 digs, and 51 blocks this season. The team's best tally in kills (60), hitting percentage (.243), assists (59), service aces (13), and digs (69) came in its five-set victory over Arizona Christian (8/30). UMW earned a season-high 10.0 total blocks against both LC State (8/30) and Saint Francis (8/16).
 
Jordan Olson leads the charge offensively for the Bulldogs, ranking first in kills (57) and total attacks (161). Kennedy Lingenfelter (53) and Savana Warburton (31) sit second and third in kills, respectively. Dani Brown paces the team with 3.0 kills per set, followed by Olson at 2.38. Taylor Petersen runs the court with 110 assists (4.78 assists/set) with Megan Hardman in second at 50. Both Petersen and Madisyn Frazier have been stout at the service line, delivering seven aces apiece
 
Defensively, Frazier tops the team with 82 digs (3.42 digs/set) while Taylor Ketchum (53) and Savana Warburton (40) have both surpassed 35 digs on the season. Jaiden Perez has registered a team-best 26 blocks, followed by Olson and Lingenfelter at 25 each.
 
 CAN YOU DIG IT? 
Madisyn Frazier leads the team with 82 total digs in 2025. She ranks ninth in the league in digs per set (3.42). She also sits sixth in the FC for most digs in a match (22).
 
 WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY 
Three Bulldogs are ranked in the top 10 in the Frontier Conference in blocks per set. Jaiden Perez sits third at 1.13 (26 total blocks) while Jordan Olson and Kennedy Lingenfelter are tied for sixth at 1.04 (25 total blocks each).
 
The trio is also in the top 10 in the conference for most blocks in a match, and most blocks in a three-set match. Lingenfelter is tied for third-most blocks in a single match with seven total blocks while Perez and Olson share the fourth-most blocks in a three-setter (6.0).
 
 THEY'RE KILLIN' IT! 
Jordan Olson is tied for fourth-most kills in a match this season (17) while Kennedy Lingenfelter is tied for seventh-most (16).
 
 THE OPPONENTS 
Valley City State (3-3, 1-0 FC)
  • The Vikings opened conference play with a sweep over Mayville State (25-20, 25-17, 25-15) Sept. 3.
  • The team registered 43 kills, 42 assists, 50 digs, nine blocks, and two service aces in the win
  • Macy Fridgen paces the team with 61 kills on the year, followed by Danielle Hagler with 48.
  • Gracie Schumacher has dished out a team-best 125 assists with Madden Bogenreif also surpassing 100 (110).
  • Annika Pulju has landed a team-high seven service aces.
  • JayCee Richter leads the defensive efforts with 123 digs while Hagler has tallied a team-high 25 blocks.
  • VCSU earned a season-high eight solo blocks against Mayville State.
 
Mayville State (2-3, 0-1 FC)
  • The Comets fell 3-0 to Valley City State in their Frontier Conference debut.
  • MSU earned 32 kills, 31 assists, 54 digs, two blocks, and two service aces in the loss.
  • Andrea Majchrzak has recorded a team-high 47 kills with Desidy Schwanke following close behind at 39.
  • Lindsey Nyhagen tops the team in both assists (79) and service aces (six).
  • Defensively, Tori Richter paces the Comets with 82 digs while Kathryn Agnew has put down a team-best 15 total blocks on the year.
 
 LOOKING AHEAD 
The Bulldogs are on the road again next Wednesday (9/10) when they travel to Butte, MT, to face off against rival Montana Tech. The match is slated for a 7 p.m. MT start.
