Bulldog Track & Field Earns Seven Podium Finishes at Yellowjacket/ Battlin’ Bears Open

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana Western men's track and field team took fourth and the women placed sixth at the Yellowjacket/ Battlin' Bears Open Saturday.

The meet was highlighted by five program records and seven podium finishes for the Bulldogs. The records reflect the best marks since the track and field program was restarted in 2017.

On the track, Luke Crossley set a program and personal record on his way to a first-place finish in the men's 5000m (15:33.82). Cael Thilmony ran a 17:47.16 personal best and Michael Reistroffer earned a 17:59.67 in the event to place fourth and fifth, respectively.

Tyler Raine clocked a PR of 15.32 in the 110H for a program-best and third-place finish. Raine earned his second podium of the meet with a second-place showing in the men's 400H (57.38)

Olivia Heiner ran a 19:29.56 in the women's 5000m to place third. Justene Santi finished seventh in the even with a 20:36.79.

Jocelyn Seefried posted a 14.36 in the women's 100m, finishing sixth.

Brody Henry placed seventh in the men's 1500m with a 4:21.15 while Tristan Von Bargen took 16th (4:42.06), Noah Rovente finished 19th (4:52.79), and Kreg Butler placed 20th (4:58.21).

Kylee Wyatt clocked a 7:01.66 in the women's 1500m to finish ninth.

Bridger Wheeler placed 11th in the men's 800m with a 2:28.82.

Uzzaiah Kanewa also finished 11th in the men's 200m, posting a 23.89.

In the men's 100m, Kanewa placed 18th (11.63) and Jesse Vaile finished 27th (12.41).

In the field, Kendalyn Streck set a program record in the women's shot put with a fifth-place toss of 11.14m (36-06.75). Cassie Green (10.6m, 34.09.50) placed 10th and Braden Kopp (9.60m, 31-06.00) took 15th in the event.

Green threw a program-best 32.48m (106-06.00) in the women's discus, finishing in ninth. Kopp (28.85m, 94-08.00), Streck (27.29, 89-06.00), and Brielle Davis (23.66m, 77-07.00) placed 13th, 15th, and 16th, respectively.

Stanley Stremick snagged two podium finishes, placing first in the men's long jump with a program record 6.90m (22-07.75) and third in the men's triple jump with a 13.05m (42-09.75).

Layne Cooney won the men's discus with a 44.9m (147-03.00) toss. Justin Maier placed eighth (36.02m, 118-02.00) and Tad Tackes finished 14th (32-01m. 105-00.00).

Cooney also finished seventh in the men's hammer throw (40.89m, 134.02) and eighth in the men's shot put (13.24m, 43-05.25) while Maier took 11th (11.53m, 37-10.00) and Tackes 12th (10.29m, 33-09.25) in the shot.

Brielle Davis launched a 33.30m (109-03.00) effort in the women's javelin to finish eighth.

Kopp placed 10th in the women's hammer throw (27.38m, 89-10.00).

The Bulldogs head to Missoula, Mont., next Saturday (3/28) to take part in the Al Manuel Invitational.
